1. If you are just 1 person, train is the best, about $11-12 one way. But... if you have more than 1 person. Taxi is an idea, about $30-35, but it will drive you to the door if you have many big bags. By the way, if you can carry your own stuffs and take a train, Museum is the closest station. It is about 5 mins walk, if you are not loss, hehehe.
2. There are many kind of tickets, check it here;
http://www.sydneybuses.info/tickets/prices.php#travelpass http://www.sydneybuses.info/tickets/travelpass.php
Each ticket has covered in different zone. I will recommend you "Red weekly pass", if you want to travel in SYD and around. You can use trains, buses, some ferries within zone 1, 3, 6, 7 for $35. I think it will cover most of SYD attraction tourist places. But you can buy bigger covers if you want , just have a look in those websites.
If you want to go to another zones. You can ad money from you Red weekly at the ticket box office. For example;
you want to go to Olympic park station, but your red ticket can go to Croydon only. So, you just go to the ticket box office at any station and tell the ticket staff.
' Can i have a return ticket to Olympic park please, and i have a Red Weekly. Would it be cheaper? And you show them your red weekly. They will chart you from Croydon to Olympic park not from your original station. In this case, you can only buy from staffs not from the machines.
3. you can bring those dry foods here but you can buy them here easy too. มาม่า is 60 cents and lots of more thinks from thailand in Thai groceries. There are many Thai groceries on Campbells St. It is about 5-10 Mins from Your hotel.
I recommend you not bring any foods, if you are not sure about it. You don't want to spent more time with immigrations, do you?
