NEW LIFE WITH HONESTY
Khing told Prapanit that before they were to embark on their relationship, he would like to take an HIV test.
"I told Prapanit I had 'lived' life but upon meeting her I needed to prove to her my true intentions. If I have health problems, we don't need to waste precious time. I passed the first barrier. I told her that I had high cholesterol and diabetes. She immediately took charge by preparing a diet with no fat,lots of fish instead of meat. I try to take better care of myself now, eating proper food such as brown rice and watching my weight so I am strong and able to take care of her," said Khing.
He did not take much care of his last wife.This time he is more careful and has changed himself to become a better person.
Khing had a rough childhood, growing up in a poor household with 11 siblings. His family sold pork products (shredded pork,pork sheets) at Bang Lumpoo market but the business struggled.
There wasn't much money to go around,which is why, when Khing grew older, he decided to make for the US.
"I lived hard. In America everyone works,but their society isn't nice to live in, there's no happiness. So I decided to save some money and return to Thailand. I'd spend my savings wisely. When I was in the US, I was known as a stingy person but the truth of it all is that I did not want to suffer when I was old.
"When I met Orm, I taught her how to save. After we married I told her how much money I had, and she told me about her income and her debts. We worked together on how to save by planning, so we don't have to struggle financially," said Khing.
Prapanit's life had been comfortable since childhood. Her monthly income was high but she had barely saved because of her casual spending habits.
However, that quickly changed when she married Khing. He volunteered to take care of the expenditure, help cut costs and save.
Instead of taking the car, they'd go places by motorcycle. She also cut down on visits to the hair salon and manicures. Even the wedding was a small, simple affair.
"He pays good attention to detail and taught me how to budget. I wasn't used to it,but I found out that we really can save. I'd make breakfast for him and he'd send me to work. He also takes care of the household chores and when he is free, he surfs the net for travel information and chats with his fan club. He has friends everywhere we go, so I end up having many friends as well," said Prapanit.
