The situation you are talking doesn't just effect the people from going abroad krub. Normally during Songkran festival lots ofThai people going abroad , and China is one of the main destination. When a lot of Thai travel out , the normal flight is not enough to accomodate, so they have the concept of charter flight , which Thai agency will charter or hiring the whole flight. Then they will coordinates with the Chinese agency to find the Chinese tourist during the same period to sell the special fares , so they don't have to fly the empty flight back to Bkk.
Normally the Thai agency pay 70% of the charter fare krub.
When there is a political situation in Thailand , Chinese people cancelled the flight to Thailand. It causes the Thai agency to cancelled the charter flight automatically too cause they can't afford to pay for the 100% charter flight. This is the root of real trouble krub....
I don't want to comment on what has happen na krub. Just want to tell you the real situation .....
Actually I'm doing the tourist business too , but not the travel agent.
The effect of this also hurt the tourist business in Thailand in a bad way.
