Salzburg to Venice by car
Hi, we are planning to drive from Salzburg to Venice. Just wondering if the E60 is the shorter drive compared to the E55. Need to break the trip half way there. Would Villach be appropriate half way stop? Open to suggestions. Thanks. neckervd

The E60 (Dornbirn - Innsbruck - Vienna - Bruck and der Leitha) has absolutely nothing to do with the Salzburg - Venice itinerary.
For a scenic stop, you may go to Lake Millstadt or Lake Ossiach.
Villach (nice small town) isn't bad too.
I suppose you know that there are much more scenic itineraries than the E55. But E 55 is the fastest one nowornever

salzburg venice - 441 km, 4.5 hours E55
thats the shortest way with a stop in villach for a break
if you go to venice, consider that the parking there is very expensive, better stay somewhere outside and go to venice by train.
scenic is everywhere better than on the mainroad.
