Great Buddha¡¯s Bay on the Holy Summit(Mt.BaoDing )
Entering the main gate and proceeding along the right to Niche No.29 of :Cow Herding,¡±one will see a side gate, which was the ,mountain gate,¡±also called Three Gates, in the past. Even if it has only one gate ,it is called mountain gate. The mountain gate is a structure of three gates,symbolizeing the Buddhaist idea of :voidness, formlessness and inaction ¡°that lead to feedom from three bondges. The book on the Buddhist Land says in front of the great halls are the gates of the dharma, voidness and nirvana and that since a tenple is where Buddhist folloers who aim to achieve nirvana live, they are to enter the establishment through the three gates.
The Great Buddhist¡¯s Bay is shaped like a U(Illus.1) with sheer cliffs on three sides and a deep gully opening to the west. The cliff on the eastern, southern and northern sides extend for about 500 meters and are 3-5 metres high. The carvings are numbers from 1to 32with inner links beteen them. On the left of the former 30,29,27and 31, whoch are Cow Herding.

On the right ar religious teachings,where the teachings of the different sects of Buddhism are explained with scuptured works,from the statue of the Guardian of the Dharma to Liu Benzun¡¯s Ten Temperings and the Ten Kings of Hell. (Niches Nos.23,24,25and 26,with the three purities,Zhao Gongmong and his wife,Master of Taoism, Queen Master of the Earth, Jade Emperor, Lu Ban and Cang Jun in thenm were not planned by Monk Zhao Zhifeng.) These niches eventually join those of Chan BuddhisM on the South Rock. As a result, Huayanm Chan, Pure Land and Weishi sects, the confucianist teaching of filial peity and the Buddhist idea of retribution are merged into one. Futher on, the carvings from Tying Down the Monkey-like Heart to Cow Herding, the carvings express the Buddhist ideas of the voidness of existence, the ¡°selfless¡±man and selfless dharma¡±(two selfessness),non-existence of things outside the heart and non ?existence of the Buddha outside the heart¡± and that the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, Rajas and Pure Land all exist in the heart. In the idea that ¡°Chan is present everywhere whether you are salking, staying, siting or lying down¡±and the ¡°Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are not different from oneself,¡± the confucianist,Buddhaist and Taoist idea of merging of the hearts is presented as a trinity like the floower,root and leaf of a lotus plant. The merging of the three beliefs at the Great Baddhas¡¯s Bay on the Hoy Summit is the guiding idea of the carving at the Great Baddhas¡¯s Bay.

At 08:00a.m.meet the guide in the hostel and take the travel bus to MT.Baoding(about 2 hrs).Mt.Baoding is one of the State Grade AAAA Scenic Area,also one of the world Cultural Heritage.You will go to Dafo Bay to visit the massive and intact stone carvings(Giant Buddha).See the Buddha with a thousand hands,three Saints,and the largest lying Buddha in China.
At 17:00,go back to hostel
