Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend are Kings of Convenience. These goldsmiths of a bucolic brand of pop were thrust into the public eye in 2001 with a magnificent debut album Quiet is the New Loud which sold more than 200,000 copies worldwide, garnered strong reviews and a cult following to boot. Kings of Convenience is credited for spearheading the New Acoustic Movement, in the tradition of Simon and Garfunkel and Nick Drake. Fans of Belle & Sebastian and Elliott Smith would likewise be seduced by these sweater-clad dreamers.
With their seamless voices and delicate lush lyrics, Kings of Convenience display an impressive maturity and disregard of things mainstream rarely seen in young bands today. The duo has played to sold-out concerts around the world, including the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2004, the year their second album Riot on an Empty Street was released. The album's first single, I'd Rather Dance with You topped MTV Europe's list of 2004's best music videos.
This is Kings of Convenience's first tour to Asia, and the stage is set for a night of acoustic guitars, piano melodies, twin vocal harmonies, and the melancholic songs that go straight to the heart.
