( sorry that i have to type in English krub... no Thai keyboard)
I think pianist should respect but not imitate composer's recording krub.
In my opinion, inadequate virtuosity and pianism of the composers did not do enough justice to their works. Most composers who made recording actually preferred their own works played by chosen pianist( Ex. Ravel & Perlemuter, Prokofiev & Gilels, Rachmaninoff(actually the best pianist of his generation) & Moiseiwitsch) The other problem with composer's recording is technology in early twentieth century. The reason that Rachmaninoff hurried in his concertos might came from the limited length of recording material. Music is a living form of art and pianist' own interpretations are often more appealing to the listener. Unconventional interpretation of Glenn Gould brings out hidden counterpoint. Chopin Etude Op. 10 No.4, when played by Richter at ultra fast tempi, makes much more sense. On the other hand, Schnabel, who followed the original metronome mark of Beethoven's Hammerklavier Sonata, delivered a very messy recording of the piece.
