55 - 6:00 min Vic Zhou : This time, the tough part for me is about the outer appearance. Because Mark and Xiu (Jie Kai) is able to fight well in the drama, they undergo special martial arts training under Jimmy (the drama's action chereographer/ trainer). It was also arranged for me to go for classes, but I am more lazy. And plus I am ruffian, and it doesn't seem like I need to be good in fighting and action. So I went for a few classes to understand what type of training they are going through. But it was there that I realize that they have trained up their body to be very strong/ big. At that time I was too thin, compared to now there is a difference of 7 kg, or at least 5 kg. When I went back I felt that something was not right and was worried that in front of the camera..... though I am ruffian but I was worried that I will become someone too small and thin. I do not want such a feeling (screen effect). So to put on more weight, I started to eat more and do some training when I have time.
01 - 7:26 min Mark Chao : Now how do I enter into the role of Ying Sheung (Hero)? When I started reading the script I found that there are many similarities between him and me. I am also someone who places a lot of importance on being principled and righteous, following the rules, do not do something against the conscience or do something wrong. Talking like this seems a little.....(laughs shyly). But will happen in small areas. But looking at the big picture, my mom and dad has taught me that way. So I am OK in this area. But I am not as strongly righteous as Ying Sheung. He is someone who values love and friendship very much. So when something happens, the blood will go to his head and he will ignore everything else and do what he wants to do at that moment. Like chasing after a lawbreaker./ villian, he won't care if there are civilians or other people around, he will still open fire and ensure that he catches the lawbreaker. As for me, I am probably more rational. If I think that this situation is not so suitable to do such a thing, I will control my emotions. Whereas Ying Sheung will "Bang!" and let it all out.
27 - 8:42 min Mark Chao : When I first started filming, I was not that able to get into the role. I know what I needed to do, but in reality what I was thinking of is different from the final outcome. I do not know what was wrong and do not know what to do. But Director Cai will slowly help you develop, and told me not to worry. After completing the first scene, he said that, "It is OK. As long as you are not too anxious you will be more natural. The acting is fine and is mostly correct." Then he said "But let me tell you that after we film for 1 or 2 months and you look back at this scene, you will feel 'How come I acted like that? Who is that?'" At that time I thought, "Is that really true? Will there be such a big change?" Later I found out that it was true. When I looked back at the first scene I filmed, "Wah, who is that?" Because as you started acting, not only will the inner person/ feelings will become like the character, even your face will become like that character. Initially when I was wearing the big leather jacket, I feel "Why is it like this? A young guy wearing a leather jacket, trying to look matured." But now looking at it again, it's totally different. This is a very miraculous thing.
43 - 9: 45 min Ivy Chen : When I first read about the character of Chen Lin and her background, I don't have such a background. In actual fact, since young I am someone who is very accomodating/ harmonious. I am the type of person who still say OK to whatever others say even though deep in my heart I am not happy. Very different from Chen Lin. I am not a very direct/ frank person. So when I first read the script, I was very anxious. And she even knows martial arts and all, which makes me worried. Plus my first scene was with big brother Chin Pei (Paul Chin). At first Dir Cai was worried that if my first scene was with Chin Pei, I will have a lot of pressure and a big gap, which may effect my performance and confidence. So he wanted to arrange for me to first film with ZZ and Mark. But because the timing was not right, the first scene had to be with big brother Chin Pei.
46 - 10:40 min Ivy Chen : But all worries and anxiety were gone at the time of filming. Because when you are in that scenario/ environment, the situation was really real. Your "brothers" will keep calling you "Young mistress, young mistress." And I suddenly felt that I am really a Young Mistress. This person is my father and he has a lot of power and influence (scene of Ivy with Chin Pei's hand on her shoulder). And everyone must listen to me. I felt that whatever emotions I could not express in normal times, I was able to do so as the character in this drama. I can became someone who is very direct and frank. I can get angry if I want to. I can do whatever I want. This is something really enjoyable. Finally, I felt that I AM Chen Lin. Why do I need to act it out? Whatever that I portray, you will feel that this is what Chen Lin should do.
41 - 12:08 min Janine Zhang : At the start when I accepted this role, the thing I was most worried about was whether it is too close to the character of Kwan Sing in The Hospital, because both are professionals. One is a doctor and another is a lab researcher. But later Director Cai discussed this with me and said that these two characters are totally different. Although my appearance and hairstyle did not change much, but....Xi Ying is someone who cares and is concerned with everyone around her. She is used to giving and sacrificing. The director said that if you put this put inside your heart, everything will come from within, all the feeling of "care and concern for others, care and concern for others". Then the character that I portray and the feelings she give to others will be different from Kwan Sing. Also, at the beginning before filming begins, Dir Cai let me go to the police force research lab to experience and interview the people there. They were very nice and explained to me each of the work processes in the lab so that I can gain better understanding. Everything was very new and fresh to me, and after each filming, I will feel that my performance became different again.
