After listening to ,I think, all the most interesting players, I thought that Jack should be the clear winner. I was struck by his general musicianship,he does not self-centers everything around a single solo, but builds a song with a structure. He has a really good knowledge of rock and jazz-rock harmony ,great phrasing, very varied, there weren't any useless phrases, and best of all, great track. However, after listening to Daniele Gottardo,I was struck by the emotional and unconventional harmony of Gottardo's track; his solos were nice, although they didn't have,I think, the variety of Jack's solos. Gottardo's solos were mostly simple arpeggios (ok played with fast tapping, but they are still simple arpeggios, they only LOOK complicated.) However Gottardo's track have a very haunting, emotional harmony in the chord progression. My vote for Jack and Gottardo is the maximum vote allowed in this contest ,therefore, to me, it should be a draw between Thammarat and Gottardo for best tracks, best musicianship and emotional content, and most innovative styles of the whole contest.
In conclusion,to me Jack wins for best overall musicianship, tasteful track, varied and musical soloing.
Gottardo for emotional, odd harmony. The guitar theme was good, but the soloing had too many arpeggios and did not have Jack's articulation in the phrasing. The strong point of his track,I think,is the haunting harmony
My vote for Jack Thammarat : maximum vote, whatever that is My vote for Daniele Gottardo: maximum vote, whatever that is
There was some other interesting players, but I think the contest should be won by the two guys above. Rock on
