Park Jaebeom’s First Interview In Nine Months
After making his way back to South Korea to begin filming for his acting debut, Park Jaebeom is making headlines once again with his first media interview in nine months.
Having just arrived for his ‘Hype Nation‘ filming, Jaebeom sat down at the Gangnam recording studio with Yonhap News Agency and shared his thoughts on returning to South Korea, his upcoming films and b-boying in the states.
“I’m glad to be in Korea. I really wanted to come,” he began, looking unusually thin and pale according to the reporter. “I spent my time in the United States b-boying. I was really thankful that a lot of fans came out to meet me when I arrived at the airport.” Jaebeom tells the reporter, recalling the one-thousand fans that showed up at the Incheon Airport on June 18 for support.
“Uploading videos onto YouTube of me singing and dancing during my stay [in the U.S.] has been on behalf of my fans.”
Jaebeom has spent his days in South Korea diligently studying his ‘Hype Nation‘ script. ‘Hype Nation‘ will follow the story of international b-boy teams competing against each other in a series of dance battles. “I’m practicing my script in Korean and English, but the Korean dialogue is easier to memorize.” Jaebeom will be taking the lead-role as the leader of his actual b-boy dance team, Art of Movement. “This morning I practiced dancing with Jang Kyung-ho [leader of the b-boy team Gambler] for four hours while doing a script read through … Since I’m a b-boy anyway it isn’t that hard, but since this is my first time acting it’s taking a lot of hard work.”
Jaebeom has been seen putting forth his best effort, shooting for four days straight along with B2K, RaNia, and Art of Movement. Despite being busy after singing with Digital Media Wire, Jaebeom admits that he hasn’t thought about signing with an entertainment agency in South Korea.
Just earlier this month Jaebeom was able to share his collaboration with American artist B.o.B. for ‘Nothing On You‘ with the ‘JayEffects’ that are eagerly awaiting new songs from the 23-year-old. “It was a great opportunity and it was a great honor for me,” Jaebeom also shared that he has recorded a total of four songs for the ‘Hype Nation‘ soundtrack.
Already having made an impact in South Korea with his YouTube hit, could Jaebeom also be headed towards the American music charts? Hip-hop producer Terry Riley has announced that Jaebeom has been working with American artists such as Snoop Dogg, T-Pain, and Krayzie Bone from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony for the album’s tracks. Additionally, one of the four songs, ‘Demon‘ is set to be the first single and will be released in both the U.S. and South Korea.
Still candid about the September controversy, Jaebeom saved his words and gave a nervous laugh as the reporter questioned him about his past with the 2PM members and fans.
