In the past two years there have been many topics surrounding the end of the world, movies, novels and books have all used this topic, most of the time it is presented in a sensationalist manner, in Jay Chou's MV for "The World's Not Over Yet", he portrayed it in a life like manner, he tells everyone in a positive manner that as long as you have confidence in the future, the end of the world will not come! With Director Chou's persistence towards MVs, the 11 MVs for the 11th album "Exclamation Mark" have all finished being filmed within a month of release! The surprising efficiency has set a new record for the fastest time to complete MVs for a whole album! At present there are a few MVs in post production, during the end of the year JVR will be plugging the MV for "The World's Not Over Yet", they hope fans can gain positive energy from the MV directed by Director Chou and be full of confidence to welcome 2012!
Director Jay Chou used a lot of life stories to describe facing the end of the world, the things and people that people care most about, for example The Drifters Darren in the MV was originally a drifter, while he was being violent he sees the presenter on the screen reporting "Scientist estimate a unknown meteor is heading for Earth, it will hit Earth in about 8 hours, please make good use of your time, be with your family." The presenter tries hard to stay calm to report this news, everyone can feel the strange and subtle atmosphere, Darren lets go of his hand grabbing the other guy's shirt, he decides to return home after having left a long time ago, he returns and reunites with his mother, Darren eats the food his mother prepares, even though he feels the warmth inside but he feels sad that he will be parting with his family soon and so cries. During the filming Darren's father had just passed away not long ago, when filming this scene he was especially emotional, he was showing his real feelings and crying!
The MV shows many stories about people finding out it's the end of the world, an arguing couple put aside their differences for the end of the world; a young boy sees the report and hurriedly finds a young girl to confess to; a musician picks up his favourite guitar to play; a ballet dancer holds their most beloved pair of ballet shoes; a pet owner holds their beloved dog; a rich woman understands the jewelry she has on are just worldly things, she generously donates them to an orphanage, she discovers a child's smile is the most precious thing..., they invited Zhang Fei's son Zhang Shao Huai to be in the MV, he played a young antique car enthusiast, due to seeing the news report about the end he drives his favourite car to vent..., this happens when the meteor hits Earth, after everyone finds about the world didn't end because of it, they all have joyous and complicated expressions on their faces. At the end of the MV the words: "Can it be we all had the same dream...., don't wait till the end of the world to cherish what's precious." One thing worth mentioning is Zhang Fei's son Zhang Shao Huai's performance has good points and bad points, no matter if it was his roaring expression during the car drive scene or when he finds out everything is going to be okay, Jay praised him saying: "Aiyo, not bad!"
At first listen this English style rock song "The World's Not Over Yet" seems like a love song, actually Vincent Fang's lyrics constantly remind everyone to have hope and courage, to stand tall in the face of the end of the world. Jay Chou lip syncs with a rock band in the MV, he transformed the "homeboy" company production staff into rockers! In reality, before Jay Chou came out he wrote a song called "End of the World" for S.B.D.W., it's the song with the most meaning in terms of Jay's early work, at the time he was having some love troubles, his good friend Will Liu wanted to take him to see "Armageddon", at the time Jay Chou did not go straight away, he was thinking: "Right now I'm facing the end of the world, why would I go see a movie?" So he went back to the company offices, with a guitar he wrote the lyrics to the song "End of the World". At the time "End of the World" was a sad love song, after 10 years he wrote "The World's Not Over Yet" which is more like "Fragrance of Rice", he hopes everyone can be full of hope for the future and cherish everything, Jay Chou said: "I wrote this song, I wanted to say the world will definitely not end in 2012! I want everyone to have hope for the future and not wait till the end of the world to cherish everything."
Looking back at 2011, Jay Chou's hard work can be seen everywhere, besides "The Era" world tour concert ending with 46 shows, he went to all the major cities around the world to promote "The Green Hornet", he crossed boundaries and became a designer for ASUS N series laptops, he wrote a theme song for Kevin Lin's "Silk Road", he filmed "The Viral Factor", released the "Exclamation Mark" album, his winnings at the GMA set a record of winning 15 awards, he also guest starred at The Drifters' concert, ATSUSHI covered "Say Goodbye" and included it in an album, this was after Kousuke Atari covered "Sea of Flowers". Looking forward to 2012, Jay Chou has already predicted he will release his 12th album by 12th of December 2012, and he will be directing a movie, he said: "2012 is a year full of hope! It's great being aware of worry, but I don't believe the world is going to end, we should relight the fire of life!"
