Q:what's your response to comments questioning why tiffany talks so much in english interviews? i mean the obvious point being made is that it's because she's naturally more fluent and confident in english as opposed to jessica. but if sooyoung (who's pretty damn fluent), seohyun, and even taeyeon (though secretly) are just as well-versed, why don't they show it? wouldn't it be more beneficial for SM to present SNSD with a majority of english speakers rather than just "two"? is it their decision?
A:I think youre reading too much into it: they just decide instantaneously who says what, from what I can see. The girls know who can speak confidently and theyll always let things happen naturally. If you watch the girls carefully, youll notice that Tiffany actually encourages the other girls to speak; even at the Music Bank press conference, despite all the questions being directed at her, Tiffany passed up on the opportunity and even passed a question onto Jonghyun.
Sooyoungs English really shocked me. She didnt make a single grammatical error in the entire time that she was talking with us and while her enunciation sounded slightly foreign, her pronunciation was very good. The girls said that they were getting her to speak more and had large portions of English interviews answered by Sooyoung recently.
Taeyeon seemed to kind of get the gist of what Tiffany and I were saying
it was a mish-mash of English and Korean. Still not sure which language Tiffany is more comfortable in; maybe a bit of both since she kind of struggled with difficult specialist words in a recent episode of GGDB. Taengs pronunciation is so cute though lol.
Just leave it to the girls. I think they have a lot of pride about them and want to preserve a certain image. They will show us their English skills when they are ready, just as Sooyoung is apparently starting to now that her English was enough to make me jump.
