DJ: Okay, um
u know, what kind of effect do you have on girls, from what u see?
Van: I see Im nothing special
um
Im just the guy doing the job and um
effect on girls? I guess they seem to find me um
funny. (*everyone laugh out loud*)
DJ: Like we do
I dont know why you find that funny but we do. (*laughs again*) Okay, we see lots of girls, u know, teenage girls screaming and their hormones are raging obviously. Now, how do you feel about it?
Van: Um
its flattering, but I try to keep a level head & I just hope that u know, I give them what they want. Um
I just hope that u know, in my performance wise, it can express how I feel towards them.
DJ: Okay, but um
u know, giving them what they want. If they want more, u know, with them mobbing u & stuff like that
Van: But thats when um
well, I mean, I try to give what Im allowed to give, theres limitations, you know, Im only 1 man and I still have company. I have company people around me, we have rules and regulations but um
yeah, when I see that happening sometimes, I get really worried because of their safety & um
like I tell them every time, I look at them too, when they are running towards me, when they are getting pushed back by the security guards. Im looking at them in the eyes & saying be careful, its okay just u know
& they go okay, okay, but they still running towards me so
(*Van & DJ laugh*)
DJ: Now, what are some of the, u know, strangest gifts youve received from your fans?Van: You know, I dont really remember the strangest gifts. I remember the nice ones where they spent a long time on.
DJ: Do you get knickers?
Van: Knickers? I think they are too young still
DJ: Okay, but thats a good sign, thats a good sign.
Van: Yeah, and the older ones, they are probably too um
DJ: reserved?
Van: too reserved, yeah
DJ: and polite as well
Van:yeah
DJ: What do you do with your gifts?Van: With my gifts? I save them, I try to save all of them.
DJ: Do you have a special room to store them?
Van: I got a corner in my room. (*laughs*)
DJ: You gotta check this one out.
Van: But it was really nice. I have this one fan who draws sketches um
cartoons with color, of every little events here and there & um
I got like a pile like this thick and she laminates it too. And in the back she writes, you know, like a message to me so its really nice.
DJ: Have u had a chance to meet her in person yet & say thank you?
Van: Oh yeah! Shes a fan in Taiwan so shes always there so, shes really a sweet gal. She listens too, I told her I dont like u waiting late uh
you know, it makes me worry. So, every time 9 oclock she goes right home when Im not there.
DJ: Vanness, you are really lucky, you have such dedicated fans. How do you go incognito with all the fans chasing you all & every single step of the way
Van: You know, its different in Taiwan because the fact is we are there more, the fans see us more. Its a different type of relationship uh
as supposed to Singapore or China or Hong Kong because the fans here do see us less, so when they do see us, its more um
its more crazy. Yeah, its nice, but its crazy. Its a little more hectic, so in Taiwan, I still try to live a normal life; I still do the normal things that I normally do.
DJ: So you dont dress up as someone else or anything like that?
Van: No, the only thing I do is hat. I wear hat, thats why I love my hats.
DJ: Oh, alright
DJ: Oh yes, and we have more of Vanness Wu, thats right, from the boyband F4 with us. Well go over to shopping right now.
Van: Okay!
DJ: Wheres your favourite place to shop in the whole world?
Van: In the whole world, actually, I really dont have a favourite place because each place has their own little, little nice surprises, I guess. But um
it depends, its just, whenever I go & find something, I mean
I could find the best thing in a thrift store or in a vintage store or even at the mall, or the corner of the beach, it all depends. I dont necessary have a favourite shop that I specifically have to go to. I rather mix & match. I like the grunge, I like the hip-hop, I like the funk um
so Im pretty much into anything that at least is comfortable & it doesnt look like Im a bum.
DJ: Now, you look fantastic I must say. So, how do you um
maintain like your figure & how do you look so good?
Van: Well, actually these days Im not. (*laughs*) Coz I dont have the time to go to the gym but if I do, I probably just go, normally I go to the gym & I run for about an hour & then I lift a little bit of weights.
DJ: Alright, food-wise, do u, are u particular on what u eat?
Van: Food-wise
uh
I used to be really picky. Now, I just try to watch the amount I eat & the calories I intake but um
before is like no cheese, no mayonnaise. Yeah, thats about it, no chocolates & stuff like that. But now, its like okay, Ill treat myself here.
DJ: Favourite dish?
Van: I like Japanese food. I like um
the sashimi, I like the rawfish, I like everything about the Japanese food. I guess when I was in my mums womb, u know, she said yeah, when u were in my stomach, I ate a lot of Japanese food. Alright
