Perfectionist Jerry Yan repeatedly sang a verse for 50 times!
Come Aug, the big brother of F4, Jerry Yan will be releasing his debut album. Being a perfectionist, his high-endurance capricorn nature was totally displayed out in the recording studio. There's this particular verse in his new song <Yi Gong Chi> which producer Li Sisong requested him to sing repeatedly for 50 times, and he willingly did so!
With regards to Jerry's debut album, SonyMusic is looking upon it with the utmost importance and they especially employed heavyweights producers Li Sisong, Mai Kelin, Liu Tianjian..etc to produce his album.
Jerry too invested a lot of hard work into this album. In the 2 yrs of producing, other than his first attempt at writing lyrics, he also took time to pick up voice training & piano lessons. He even rejected 3-4 movie offers because he wanted to concentrate on making this album.
As Jerry has very high expectations of himself, he was highly cooperative with the producers. For example, while recording his new song <Yi Gong Chi>, he not only spent 1 week 'toiling' in the recording studio, he even repeatedly sang a particular verse for 50 times.
As compared to F4's <Meteor Rain> album, Jerry laughed and said that his voice in that album is more of a 'noise' than anything else, coz' at that time, he was rushing to finish filming hence he didn't really have much time to concentrate on the song recording. This time round, as it's his debut solo album, he has decided right from the start that this album must be recorded/produced till the best. Hence, he willingly underwent all the 'grinding'. This time round, his voice should have surpassed the 'safe standard'.
This debut album has put Jerry under a great deal of stress. Originally he could have chosen to release his album at the peak of F4's popularity, then he need not worry about the sales, but he didn't want to release an album just for the sake of releasing. He hopes to release one which he's confident of. Only then will he be able to convince himself & his fans.
