First solo album released
Jerry : Media need not take mercy
F4's "lead of flower", Jerry Yan's solo album, Di Yi Chi is finally released the day before ! Due to his perfectionist attitude, his album was prepared for 3 years. Now seeing the hard work, Jerry sighs a sign of relieve. At the Asia press conference, he said, "Very happy, spending 3 years and finally squeezed an album out."
During this period, Zaizai and Vanness released their solo albums. But, Jerry was not rushing at all, "They asked me what was i doing, why am i doing it for so long ? Sometimes, when i look at the moon, wondering what was i deciding on ? However, i feel that, if i want to do it, i have to do it till the best." In order to do an album with sincerity in order to be able to reply to his fans, he spent time to learn how to potray his voice, went for piano lessons and pushed away 3 to 4 movies of invites.
In this "Di Yi Chi", Jerry gave his 3 first time. First time he's doing the lyrics, first time time he's trying on rap and first time in the producing work. When reporter asked him, "Wang Le Zhi Ji", was it his love story written down ? He was actually talking alot, but coming to this, he could not answer it for awhile. Looking down and twisting his lips, he said, "It is partly, but partly, it's not. I'll tell you all again when we do a telephone lian xian next time."
Towards singing rap, Jerry did not try and do advertisement for himself, but said, that was not considered rap but a "telling with talking". After involving himself with the producing work with Di Yi Chi, Jerry finds that, whether is it performing on stage or facing the media, he has much more confidence. "Now, i don't feel that i have nothing, not just an idol which is wrapped up by the company. To those who think i cannot sing, I'll want to show it to them too."
Comparing with his vocal chords in Liu Xing Yu, with the skills which Jerry is holding with his emotions and singing, it showed improvment. When asked in which area he thinks he improved the most, he humoured himself, "Last time, i'll sing out of tune, now i can grasp the bluff tune."
"Di Yi Chi" released the day and night version at the same time, to show the sunny and lonely side of Jerry. On the screens, he's always so cool, when he don't smile, he looks like a depressed king. As known, before he stepped into the circle, he was someone who loved to joke, and a sunny boy.
"In the past, i wasa village boy, very innocent and would just speak my mind, not thinking how i would offend people. After i came into this circle, i'll get mistaken when i speak too straightly." Thus, Jerry's own sacrifice, changed from "day" till "night". He says its a painful change. However, he hopes, using this album, to allow everyone to see the "day" side of him.
Maybe it was the environment in this circle, or it was his own thinking, unable to realise it through his talks. Jerry is no longer as shut-tight as before. He's trying very hard, no wonder even the media has praised that his EQ has gone higher.
Di Yi Chi's release date clashed with Jay's Jhi Li Xiang. But, Jerry says he does not have pressure regarding the sales record. He says he does not wish to make comparison with others, his enemy is himself. "I treat myself as a new artist, to try and do my own part. I would like more to hear people's feedback and opinion. And using the critism, to improve the next album." He invites the media to give him more critism, " Do not take mercy, however tell me only down privately !"
Jerry is predicted to come to Singapore to promote his album in October.
