อันนี้เอามาฝากแฟน Interpol นะ ส่วนหนึ่งจาก Under The Radar: The Protest Issue เห็นว่าเกี่ยวเนื่องกัน
"Most of the lyrics on the first record were set from a place where I was in real misery. Like, I had resolved that I would die in a dumpster. And I can say that like I mean it. I had a job and stuff, but I was really miserable. I was doing data entry and realized that you never deserve to get anywhere in art unless you're willing to make those kinds of comprimises. Like I've come across people who are artistic but they're pussies, and they're worried about what their parents are going to think, or they're worried about their job security. And I came to a realization that you don't deserve to get anywhere unless you're willing to make that kind of sacrific," Banks says. "And so I had gotten to that point where nothing was really working in my life and I was just not happy, but my motivation was that I'll do this until I die. So, everything's very simple. This is what I'm going to try to do until I die. If it doesn't work out, I'll die."
"I think it's good to have an opinion in conversation, but I have too much respect for people that study political science and spend many years of their life trying to get to a point where their voice is relevant. Not relevant, but to be a voice of authority. It's a long process to get to a point purely by taking activism routes where people listen to your political opinion and you deserve to have people listen to you - you've spent all these years. If you're a musician or an artist and you get to a position where people are listening to you because you're an artist, I do think it's good if there are things that are very wrong in the world, it's good to assert the fact that you disagree with those things that are very wrong, however, to get on a high horse politically as an artist, I think it's a little bit annoying to me, and it also, in a way, undermines the respect that one should have for people who that's what those people spend their life doing."
