Thailand Plays Host To The 2005 MTV Asia Awards October 28, 2004 SINGAPORE/HONG KONG The 2005 MTV Asia Awards -- Asias biggest pan-regional music event -- will be staged in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 5, 2005. The iconic show will take place at the IMPACT Arena and is sure to be a truly glamorous event as MTV celebrates its fourth year in paying tribute and honoring regional and international talent. The annual ceremony in 2005 will be celebrated in style with the exciting theme of 'martial arts' being incorporated throughout the show to personify and heighten the beauty, grace and action that the Awards will bring to the audience.

The MTV Asia Awards 2005 pays homage to the world of Martial Arts. Unique in style and significant in many Asian countries, martial arts has cast its influence on culture, films and music. Be it Tae-Kwon-Do from Korea, Wushu from China, Muay Thai from Thailand or Silat from Indonesia, each requires practice and discipline to master. As with any music artist, hard work and perseverance are critical for success. Martial arts is also respected for its grace, beauty, action and competitiveness -- all the essential attributes that will be displayed at the Awards, making the 'martial arts' theme appropriate and relevant for Februarys show.
The logo of the MTV Asia Awards 2005 plays with the iconography of Martial Arts movies from the '70s -- the time when Bruce Lee first introduced martial arts to the masses. The theme also enables the MTV team to creatively deliver the brand and event via a 360 degree approach, spanning on-air, on-ground, online and mobile platforms. Fans and viewers can expect to get into the action and participate in the excitement as the event draws nearer.
As the annual MTV Asia Awards show has grown in size and notoriety, its success has also brought about strong brand association for sponsoring partners. Continuing their association with this event, TOYOTA and Hewlett-Packard (HP) will be providing heavy weight support as official partner sponsors for the Awards in 2005. Adding further power-packed punch, Samsung will also be joining for the very first time as a partner sponsor for this event.
A valued partner for the previous two years as well, Toyota Motor Corporation has experienced the value created from the show, returning to support the event for the third year running. Joining as an official partner sponsor for their first year is Samsung who sees great potential for the 2005 show. Since the launch of the MTV Asia Awards in 2002 in Singapore, it will be the first time that the event is being staged in Bangkok, Thailand. Previously hosted by Ronan Keating and Mandy Moore (2002), Shaggy and Coco Lee (2003) and Vanness Wu (มะมีไร อยากทำชื่อสามีตัวหนาเจ๋ยๆ อุ อุ) and Michelle Branch (2004), the phenomenal shows bring together a unique blend of East and West, featuring the largest gathering of international and local talent ever seen in the region.
