Jerry Yan fever
NAP GUTIERREZ People's Journal

It was pandemonium breaking loose. To say that they were screaming fans is an understatement. It was hysterics to say the least. That's exactly the big picture at the Tent last Friday when Jerry Yan came to appear and sang two songs for the Bench mini-fashion show.
The fans did not care about Jerry Yan's singing only two songs. The fact that he was here, alive and in the flesh, was more than enough for the 3,000 fans that gathered at the NBC. There was supposed to be no interviews but at the last minute, Jerry changed his mind and agreed to answer at least six questions from the fans.
When a 17-year-old girl said , "It"s my birthday today," Jerry answered back in straight English, "Are you sure?", then he approached the girl and signed her CD and greeted
her.
When someone asked him what is his favorite Bench shirt, he gamely answered, "Underwear." And the fans screamed their hearts out. He was asked whether he was extending his contract with Bench, and Jerry said yes. Not only did he answer questions from the fans, he also had a short autograph signing session. He also had a handshake session with at least 150 fanatics, something which he did in his promo tour in Hong Kong and Shanghai. He sang two songs, "Gravity" and "One Meter," both songs taken from his debut CD album, "Jerry For You."
And when he left the stage, he shouted, "See you soon" with that killer smile that melted the hearts of a lot of fans. At that point, thousands of fans cried with tears of joy.
Jeenee Garcia, owner of Fanny Serrano salon in Greenhills and a self-confessed Jerry Yan fanatic, was among those in the crowd. She didn't mind the heat, the screaming audience, and the pandemonium. "Im alright as long as I’ve seen him up close. What perfect skin he has. He really has nice skin"she says.
As early as last Wednesday night, hundreds of Jerry Yan fanatics slept at the NBC parking lot, just so they'd be the first to line-up when the gates open. At 7 a.m. last Friday, the Tent opened its entrance doors.
Jerry Yan arrived in Manila Friday morning aboard the Eva Air flight. He was billeted at the Mandarin Hotel and checked in at a suite at the 18th floor. That suite costs more or less P10,000. He then left for Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific. Three hours after, he was on his way to Shanghai.
