DJ1: After talking about marriage let's talk about birthdays. F4, those 4 guys, really, wherever they go it's like they would dominate all the news and all kinds of people.
DJ2: It's not only that but their domination strong but it has lasted for a long time. Since F4 entered the industry it's been a while, like it wasn't these 2 years. But every time they come to HK the airport is still packed.
DJ1: You can see it. I personally think this is the way Taiwan's bands or the way they like celebrities, like if you watch Taiwan concerts, the people are crazy. For example, 5 Yue Tian's concert. The fans at the bottom of the stage sing along and every word is pronounced correctly. If they really like that singer their songs are already all in their heads and they are really into it. In contrast, HK concerts there's applauses but if you don't ask them "Let's all give some applause" they won't applause or "I hope everyone can give me some support." They would have to come out and say it. It's different. When F4 first entered the industry everyone thought, "Handsome guys, idols." Like they weren't singers. Then now everyone is slowly accepting and then they'd think, "Oh, Jerry Yan's singing is ok, pretty good." So the support is really great. Just like when he came to HK a few days ago. There were hundreds of fans...
DJ2: At the airport to welcome him.
DJ1: His fans were all at the airport and they sang happy birthday to him at the airport, man.
DJ2: I think tourists that came to HK would think that HK people are really passionate.
DJ1: But if you take a better look then you'd know that it wasn't a HK celebrity, it's a Taiwanese celebrity. So are HK celebrities like? Why are others be so amazing.
DJ2: But this is how I look at it. Looking back at the past 5-6 years, at so heat Tawain sings, they weren't really able to last that long. For example a few years ago, Siu Ah Heen, A-mei. They have held concerts in HK and were really popular but it's really hard to maintain it for a long time. So why is F4 so amazing, why is Jerry Yan so amazing, I don't think it's simply just singing because they film movies too and dramas. If Taiwan artists only focuse on singing their development is more limited.
DJ1: But let's say a Taiwan artist, even if they are popular for a time and you see oh like they kinda disappeared but they are probably hiding to improve their music. Like Zhao Wah Geen, he improved on his music and us HK people don't know that he's holding a concerts in China. Or A-mei who is having issues in China that is effecting her, so it drags the time a bit. So if they come back out to sing will they do well? They do. It's not like HK stars, maybe HK is faster. They except it at a certain period of time, once you disappear, if you're not here then, "Sorry, I've forgotten you." So it's different, HK is about the person and not the songs. Taiwan or China people accept the songs. Even if you go on haitus and come back they'll still be very supportive because they like your songs. So of course your songs have to be good. F4 for example, every time they come out they don't just stand their being handsome. Every time they'd add something new to it, like the feeling is really like Japan training a star, actor, idol, method. Earlier Vanness Wu, for movie or for himself, went to Shaolin to learn martial arts. After coming back to HK or to film a movie he can put it to use. So it's like he puts forth effort to learn new things and not "I want to learn how to dance, because of this song." The message that HK stars would often give people is, "For the song, I learned how to dance." "For a song, I went to do this." But after that song they stop doing it. So we ask why, why Andy Lau so amazing. He doesn't dance for a song, it's for himself. Whatever he does you can count them all because he's been doing them all these years.
DJ2: Another area where F4 is successful is that, though they are 4 that make up a group, but they also develop sololy. So once in a while you see that they are together again and then you'd think it's so rare so you have to go see them. I think this is an attraction.
DJ1: If everyone is always wondering why F4 is so amazing, then you should find someone to do some research, research what areas make F4 so successful. Putting the 4 together, are they really handsome? I dont' think they all are. Are they all hot? Hm...a little. Good singing? Hm...ok lah. But why when together they are so good? So things should be looked at first before creating a group in HK and not just get a few that are pretty and put them together and they'd dance and then their singing will do since things can be adjusted in the recording room and stuff like that. So they'd put them together but it doesn't come out so appealing.
DJ2: They each contribute.
DJ1: Yeah, like one's strength is singing, one is dancing, and then one maybe is good at acting.
