According to The Sun, Madonna has landed a role in "Puss In Boots" the movie. She will provide the voice behind a character in the animated film, which goes into production later this year.
DreamWorks has hired screenwriter David H. Steinberg ("Slackers", "American Pie 2") to write the animated film "Puss in Boots," based on the character voiced by Antonio Banderas in "Shrek 2". "Puss in Boots" was introduced to audiences in the "Shrek" sequel, and immediately captured the hearts of moviegoers and critics alike. Voiced by Antonio Banderas, "Puss in Boots" practically stole the movie from the "Shrek" stars voiced by Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy.
Banderas will return to voice the spinoff, which is part of DreamWorks slate for 2008. The trade says it is unclear at this point whether the title will receive a theatrical release or go directly to DVD, but, according to Variety, Steinbergs six-figure deal suggests the studio has an interest in making a run at a theatrical release.
