..The thing is the current "Korean Wave" thingy swirling around Southeast Asia (including Thailand) doesn't help the situation one bit! It's as if Koreans are reminded once again how "good" and "superior" they are to all the other Asians. I once tried to persuade my friend (Korean) to try to listen to some Thai music CDs I had, but her immediate response to my effort was "if...Thai music is that cool and good as u say, then why does it seem like that Thais are DYING to listen to Korean music?"... To be honest I didn't know what the hell to say back to her... The situation is absolutely different with Japanese. Sure Japs are pretty racists too but majority of them are at least bothered to be discreet about their bias! Whereas in Korea, people say racist comments here and there out right openly since most seem to think that no one woud care or be insulted by those (which is understandable in way cuz afterall 99.9% of the populace in Korea is composed of ethnic KOREANS! - The most homogenous country racially on this planet) Heck I didn't learn what consistutes racism and how to avoid making racist comments and stuffs like that when I was back in high school in Korea! I think Korea still has to learn a lot about respecting other countries and cultures in order to be a truly 1st class country in this globalized world, which is obviously what the country aspires to be the most. In Japan for example u can find tons of websites about Thai music and singers in Japanese. I mean u can even find Japanese websites about Khmer and Lao singers! There is even a radio station in Kansai prefecture which specializes in playing Arabic music! Sure not all Japanese are open-minded enough to try to listen to music from other corners of the world. But as a globalized and "open" country, it still has a large number of people who do just that. Whereas in Korea, people like that could be accussed of being "weird" or even worse. There was this one guy back in Korea who once called me a "psycho" for listening to Thai music. Things really need to change! P.S. Tata might do "it". I mean afterall she has been to Korea a few times already and most Koreans sort of ...do not look down on her if not respect her cuz she sings in English and speaks English better than most Koreans...and stuff like that! Sure Palmy and Lanna can do that too! (speaking English and stuff) But just how many Koreans got to witness that huh?
