Maggie Shiu : Look Good, Feel Good
How do you put your work on a stranger? Thats a simple but deep question every make-up (beauty) artists have to answer. I have worked with many entertainers, actresses, and singers, but for every first occasion, my method is: every individual is unique; trust my own feeling/intuition. Sounds like a general answer, but it works.
When you found out the persons unique character, you will be able to create a make-up style that fits the person well. Not too much imagination is needed, nor too much creativity or the latest popular style. This editions stylish photo-shots represent my idea I mentioned above.
A Style created out of pure intuition has nothing much to say about, but it tells you the background story. This edition we ask Maggie to be our model for a standard magazine-style photos. If you pay attention to the details, you will find out three different styles: the first one is almost colorless, the other twos are extreme in colors. Those are the impressions Maggie left on me.
In the past I have met Maggie in several occasions, but this is the first time we really work together. Before, I thought of Maggie as a cool and self-protected person. But after a warm conversation, I find out she is no different of other girls, a creature needs protection. Solely based on intuition, I think the color black and pink represent her.
Beauty make-up is unique to every individual. Whether it fits the person or not, is very subjective. The best applause to us, make-up artists, is when the style we created can represent her, bring out the best of her.
