The adventure novel : from King Solomon's Mines, Long Prai to Petch Pra Uma (part one)
Suparat Spapakruja (1998) This thesis is an attempt to explore in the characteristics of the jungle adventure novel in King Solomon's Mines, Long Prai, and Petch Pra Uma (part one), the influence of King Solomon's Mines on Long Prai and Petch Pra Uma. The influence of Long Prai on Petch Pra Uma and Petch Pra Uma's unique characteristics.
The analytical study of King Solomon's Mines, Long Prai, and Petch Pra Uma, shows that the jungle adventure novel consists of two groups of character, the boss and the hunter who must go to a strange place because of some reason, and must depend on a map or a guide. There are many dangers along their journey.
It is found that Long Prai and Petch Pra Uma were influenced by King Solomon's Mines. Noi Intanon adopted the concept, journey into the jungle because of some reason, from King Solomon's Mines, writting his series, Long Prai. Petch Pra Uma was also influenced by King Solomon's Mines in terms of plot (a journey into the jungle in search of lost one and treasure), characters, settings and events, dialogues, and the ending. In addition to receiving the influence from King Solomon's Mines, Panomtian may be influenced by Long Prai as well because many events in his novel are similar to Long Prai.
However the influence of the latter is not as clear as that of the first one. Despite these influence, Petch Pra Uma is a very unique piece of work; because Panomtian combined those influences with his experiences and knowledge that make Petch Pra Uma very interesting.
