Q: How did you come by to be an actor?
A: It is not my dream to be one when I was young. You have heard about the job of VJ right? When I was studying in the university, VJ is very popular in Korea. It was a job that students wish to take up. One day, my friends and I saw an article in Newspaper announcing the audition by Korea Mnet Musical Channel for VJ. We decided to try out for fun so we took photos for each other and prepared our resumes but we were not professional with it at all. The photos and resumes were not taken and done properly when we sent them to Mnet. We did not have any grand dreams about this audition. The main purpose was to do something memorable, together with my friends. Being selected as VJ was the starting point, followed by making appearance on TV, getting known by people gradually, people from Celebrity Management Company passing me their name card, CF agreements. That was how it got started. And before I knew it, I have come to this stage today. Although this is not a childhood dream, my passion for acting grew when I took up my first project, and very naturally I developed the thought of wanting to be a good actor.
Q: Which of your projects gave you the deepest impression?
A: It should be Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy because this is the drama that Japanese audience get to know me. Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy gave me a very deep impression. The other drama One Fine Day is not an easy project for me, be it in heart or in spirit and even moulding the character. It was a very tough project. Other than that, another project which will leave me the deepest impression, will commence filming soon. (Referring to Coffee Prince Shop No. 1)
Q: How do you spend your time during long break?
A: Hmm, just like everybody, I dont do anything special. I will learn English. Perhaps others will regard me as being pretentious but I love English since my school days. During those days when I dont have any schedule for filming, it is considered as break. As compared to other people, actors will have more time, hence, when time permits, I will continue to study English which I hope to do well earlier on. Other than that, I also work out and watch movies frequently, play video games, nothing really special.
Q: How is your English?
A: My Japanese and English is about the same level. Language can be easily picked up if it is used often. However, my learning has always been intermittent so I will definitely need more time to be familiar with it. I only know a little bit of English (Laugh), I still cannot make it. I have learnt some Japanese but at the very elementary stage.
Q: What are you enthusiastic in now?
A: I have decided on the next project, the drama will be aired in Korea in July and August. I am eagerly doing my preparation work right now. From visual aspects to studying the role, I have been thinking a lot over these areas.
Q: Which role would you like to challenge next time?
A: There are many roles which I have not acted before. I would like to try out all of them as long as I have not acted in it before. To an actor, as compared to a character that he has acted, he would hope to play a role which he has never attempted. Thats why he will spend a lot of time in selecting a project. This is also a tough part of being an actor. Hmm..I want to act in the roles such as a mentally-ill patient, unrealistic characters with strong emotions and even a person who has multiple personalities.
Q: Say something to the Japanese Fans.
A: I feel extremely happy and proud that they (Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy and Shes on duty) are sold in DVD. Of course these are happy projects, if you have not watched them, you cannot watch this (interview) (Laugh). Anyway, I am very thankful for the love and concern from all of you. I will work even harder in future, to achieve the expectations that everyone has on me. Other than these projects, hope you will also support the dramas and movies which I participated before. Thank you everyone.
