Violence against Women - Help Request I am seeking help for a graduate student who was blackmailed by Surachai Vivattanachart with video clips of Surachai forcing her to have sex. The victim was brutally raped continuously until she was pregnant, and then raped again causing miscarriage. For the safety of the victims life, I request that Surachai should be detained in the cell until the finale of the court. Below is the brief of the case. Surachai Vivattanachart, 33, and his wife Thanawan Klaipae, 42, were arrested by the Crime against Children, Juveniles and Women Suppression Division (CCSD) on the accusation of drugging and raping the 22-year-old while his wife watched, filming the attack on his phone, and then using the footage to blackmail the victim. Surachai admitted he had filmed sexual acts with the victim, but said it was done with her consent. The victim told police Surachai had repeatedly raped her from April 16 last year after she was employed at his detective firm, International Detective Thailand. Surachai, formerly known as Khanisorn, was convicted of beating and torturing Areewan Jatuthong, a former Miss Thailand runner-up, and sentenced to two years in prison. Pol Col Noppawat Arayangkul, superintendent of the CCSD, said the victim is under the close care of social workers. However, Surachai and his wife have been bailed out recently which has caused great fear for victim. She has sought help by revealing the injustice of her life story through TV media. Please follow the below link for the victims TV clip. Once you click on the link, you can see that there are already many responses below it that reprimand this type of behavior. Hopefully, the UN can assist us in raising public awareness and use this case as part of a broader campaign to address sexual violence and generate political will against the violence to women. http://www.pantip.com/cafe/chalermthai/topic/A7805300/A7805300.html
Finally, if anyone knows, please send me the contact email of the UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador, Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol of Thailand, as she is the active agent to help Thai women. I would like to bring this case to her attention. The Thai people highly appreciate your kind concern and thank you for your time to help this case.
