If he keeps silent, rumors will still be rumors. If he said it outright, things will get serious. Tabloids & paparazzis will definitely go after them. Maybe he's scared that would hurt her since she seems just a common foreign beauty, not someone who is also in the entertainment circle.
Plus, JPN people, who are non-Johnnys fans, have a tendency to never judge a Johnny's idol as fairly as artists & talents from other agencies. Which means they would never judge a girl, who is dating a Johnny's idol, in a fair way too. They would think she's only after him for fame & money. That certainly will make her feel bad.
