Al-Jazeera asks: Is Thaksin funding this protest, Mr Amsterdam? สำนักข่าวอัลจาซีร่า ถามว่า .. คุณทักษิณสนับสนุนเงินทุนในการประท้วงครั้งนี้หรือไม่ คุณอัมสเตอร์ดัม
Interviewer: He is Mr. Robert Amsterdam, international lawyer, acting on behalf of the former Priminister of Thailand, Mr. Thaksin Shinnawatra. Mr. Amsterdam, Thank you for joining us. Is Mr. thaksin funding this protest?

Mr. Amsterdam : Thank you. Listen. This issue of funding has been raised and discussed before. The question really become whats behind and whats motivating these protesters and that has to do with their conditions endure in Thailand and their feelings that they are not part of Thai political community. That is the issue that motivated them here. Where they get the money to eat on the ground is hardly the question. People dont take bullets on the base of who funding what.
คุณอัมสเตอร์ดัม : ขอบคุณครับ ฟังนะ เคยมีการพูดถึงประเด็นของเงินทุนนี้มาก่อนแล้ว แต่คำถามที่คุณควรถามคือ อะไรที่อยู่เบื้องหลัง และอะไรที่เป็นแรงจูงใจให้กลุ่มคนเหล่านี้ต้องออกมาประท้วง และสาเหตุก็คือสภาพและสภาวะที่คนเหล่านี้ต้องเผชิญในประเทศไทย รวมถึงความรู้สึกของพวกเขาที่ว่า เขาไม่มีส่วนร่วมไม่ได้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของสังคมการเมืองในประเทศไทย และนั่นคือประเด็นที่เป็นแรงจูงใจให้พวกเขาออกมาประท้วง ส่วนเขาจะได้เงินจากไหนมาซื้อของกินไม่ใช่เรื่องที่จะเป็นคำถาม ผู้คนไม่ได้กินลูกปืน หรือใครจะจัดหาเงินทุนอย่างไร
Interviewer: But neither side is innocence in the latest flair of the violence really, arent they?

Mr. Amsterdam : You know, I would say to you that on this kind of confrontation, it is not the matter of guilt or innocence. One side is the government with the military machine. Lets look at the number
37 dead .. 1 soldier, 36 civilians, including journalists and innocent third parties. The behavior of the government of Thailand has to be investigated by some form of international tribute because what we see on the ground here has been a random attack on these civilians and what were looking for is the international medias comments that step in and bring a basic humane settlement to the situation. Thats all.
คุณอัมสเตอร์ดัม : คุณรู้ไหม ผมอาจจะพูดกับคุณว่า ในเรื่องการเผชิญหน้ากันอย่างนี้ มันไม่ใช่เรื่องของความรู้สึกผิดหรือความไร้เดียงสาใดๆทั้งสิ้น ฝ่ายหนึ่งคือรัฐบาลที่มีกองกำลังทหาร เราลองมาดูที่ตัวเลขกัน .. มีคนตาย 37 คน ทหาร 1 คน ประชาชน 36 คน รวมถึงนักข่าวและประชาชนที่ไม่รู้อิโหน่อิเหน่อะไรด้วย พฤติกรรมของรัฐบาลไทยจะต้องได้รับการสอบสวนโดยองค์กรระหว่างประเทศบางองค์กร เพราะเหตุว่าสิ่งที่เราเห็นในพื้นที่ คือการสุ่มโจมตีประชาชน และสิ่งที่เรามองหาก็คือความเห็นของสื่อหรือผู้สื่อข่าวต่างประเทศที่ก้าวเข้ามาพร้อมกับนำขบวนการพื้นฐานทางมนุษยธรรมบางอย่างที่จะจัดการกับสถานการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้น ก็แค่นั้นเอง
Interviewer: The red shirt has a chance too in this protest in this human range before the PM put the offer on the table it said they would hold fresh election but the red shirt did not take this offer. Now the same bloodshed, the same violence. They had a chance to end this.
ผู้สัมภาษณ์ : กลุ่มคนเสื้อแดงมีโอกาสเช่นกันที่จะกระทำอย่างมีมนุษยธรรมก่อนที่จะมีข้อเสนอจากทางฝ่ายรัฐบาลเสนอขึ้นมา ซึ่งจะจัดให้มีการเลือกตั้งครั้งใหม่ขึ้น แต่กลุ่มคนเสื้อแดงก็ไม่ได้ตอบรับข้อเสนอนี้ ตอนนี้ก็เกิดความรุนแรง การนองเลือดขึ้น พวกเขามีโอกาสที่จะหยุดยั้งเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ได้
Mr. Amsterdam : Not at all. That I think is a misperception. Has the red shirt been convinced to the governments offer, they would have to take it. The issue has been the lack of trust, the lack of faith.

Interviewer: For example, some of the red shirts obviously said were convinced by the governments offer because we hear that one half wanted to take it but the other half perhaps a more diehard fraction did not want to take it. They wanted to continue to fight on. They almost seen as wanting to provoke some sort of violence reaction from the government

Mr. Amsterdam : I think youre presenting an opinion that is not fair. I was in the compound the day before yesterday, meeting with red shirt leaders. And what was clear was there was an absence of trust and thats why there is a call of UN or some sort of third party to intervene. Weve got to stop pointing figures and weve got to get to a quick and speedy resolution of this before more innocent lives are lost.

Interviewer: Is Mr. Thaksin wants to see the resolution to all of this?
