100607 The Real Meaning Behind Rains MTV Award
Singer and actor, Rain, has been awarded the Best Action Star, also known as the Biggest Badass Star at the MTV Movie Awards.
Being the first Korean to globally rise up to the top amongst the other competitors, its a case that calls for attention but for Rain, this award is something much more meaningful to him.
The Korean World Star has given a very touching speech but what did it mean personally? Although Rain has debuted as a singer, he wasnt too far behind in his acting skills. As an actor, Rain has charisma that fits both romantic-comedies and dramatic works.
In the drama Full House, he has worked with actress, Song Hye Gyo, in a romantic-comedy drama, but in the drama A Love to Kill, he worked with actress, Shin Min Ah which left many viewers crying. Also, in Park Chan Wooks movie, Im a Cyborg, But Thats Okay, Rain played a mentally handicapped patient that showed the dorky side of him. Rains challenge as a successful actor didnt stop there.
He launched his Hollywood career with his appearance in Speed Racer, directed by the Wachowskis brothers. Rains mentor, Park Jin Young, has dreamed of this moment where Rain would debut into the Hollywood stage.
Although the role was small, Rain was able to play the part very well that caught the attention of American fans. Afterwards in Ninja Assassin, he became the main character and was able to rise up to the top.
After Ninja Assassin was released, there were comments such as, Its a B level action movie, other than the fact that theres a lot of blood, theres nothing else to see, and other negative comments. Even though he was criticized as an Asian, for Rain, it was a big success.
During his singing activities, he once said, because of Park Jin Young, it was wrapped up very well. Some commented, he wont succeed once he leaves Park Jin Young. But, after leaving Park Jin Young, Rain did succeed not only in Korea, but also in Hollywood.
It is very pleasing to know for Koreans that Rain was the first Korean celebrity to be awarded at the MTV Movie Awards, However, for Rain, it was something more personal after he left Park Jin Youngs shadow.
