Movieweek: As Bidam in "Queen Seon Deok", you have enchanted the hearts of many people in an instant. They were also became interested in your next project. Specifically, what are your reasons for choosing characters Geon Wook in "Bad Guy"; and in the film "Eve Of The Storm" as Soo-in, where the character you portrayed is a man who is brave enough to face death and eventually become a lover?
Kim Nam Gil : It's not like I intentionally took that role, but I keep on choosing wounded characters. Of course, there is concern about the overlap in developing the image of these characters. However, I think I have shown the different levels of depth to each character, apart from their outward appearance. Geon Wook in 'Bad Guy' certainly has a different pain from the previous character Bidam, Aslo, the image of Geon Wook will be different.
Movieweek: It is very interesting to know what's going on in director Lee Hyung Mins mind for the drama, with the intense wildness of Bad Guy. What is your opinion about Geon Wook, How he can be different from the usual bad guy character?
Kim Nam Gi l: Instead of saying the certain aspects of differences, I want to express the pain and hurt of the Bad Guy with my own style. I prefer to think that if I continue acting Geon Wook with my style, the Bad Guy in him will emerge.
Movieweek: What was it like acting with Han Ga In and Kim Jae Wook who was about your age? I've heard, especially with Kim Jae Wook, that both of you will become great rivals in the story. Maybe that's why on the set, while filming in Japan, I felt the tension between you two.
Kim Nam Gil : Really? We dont intend to create a sense of tension. Each youth must have had great ambitions. They are the ones who are really good, We grew to know each other pretty fast.We learned a lot from each other.I think, because the location of our first filming began in Japan, our relationship become more suitable.
Movie Week: When filming in Gero Onsen Japan, you became very popular and watched by many Japanese fans who gathered there. Given that director Lee Hyung Min's work has received a good response in Japan, has not occurred to you that you can take the place the next generation Korean Hallyu Star?
Kim Nam Gil : I'm so popular? Well, I'm not too sure about it. I wanted to be an easygoing guy. I want to do well in Korea first. (Laughs).
Movieweek: Looks like the year 2009 was an unforgettable year for Kim Nam Gil. And what about this year when you just turned 30 years old. Are there any specific goals that you want to accomplish?
Kim Nam Gil : Honestly, even though the environment around me has been greatly changed and become different, I dont considered myself changed. This year, as I always do, I'll continue to worry about myself. As an actor, I will continue to pay attention to acting, regardless of the status Im in, I want to become someone who will not be shaken which will win in a battle against myself.
Movie Week: Explain why the audience should look forward for Kim Nam Gil as Geonwook!
Kim Nam Gil : Geonwook is a person who uses 120% of his appeal. That's why I feel the pressure because I must portray that there is Geonwook charm in me. And, this is my last job before I will be enlisted in the military, I will try to make this drama become worthy and to be remembered. Just hang on!
