MBLAQ | Part 4 | "Behind the Interview - L's Record"
The interview with MBLAQ properly mixed entertainment and music in one place. Around the time when MBLAQ ranked 1st place, Leader Seungho thought about his grandfather who passed away, and while being close to tears, he awakened a touching heart. However, when Mir, who cried even more than Seungho, started to tell his own story, G.O. said, "When Mir started crying, he lost his original intention." After that, "His intentions and tears flew together" (Lee Joon) and "Even before we were ranked 1st place, he was grasping onto his emotions" (Thunder) were the comments that were poured out by the members to make fun of Mir. After that, Mir's 'original intention' was on everyone's lips and they made the interview pleasant. Like their words "We found out that the nuclear weapon of entertainment was all about timing," no matter what they were talking about together, they made it entertaining.
Even between the conversations of the entertaining members, Mir was the one who stood out the most. Mir sat on the floor, and when the photographer asked them to be more relaxed during the shooting, he immediately dropped his head and made an expression that looked like he was going to fall asleep any minute.
From time to time, when he made a funny gesture without knowing, the camera shutter would immediately take [pictures of] his movements. No matter what Mir did, he stood out in people's eyes and he made proper responses to the people's reactions.
While next to Mir, Thunder didn't throw away Mir's funny behavior and instead, copied him. When the camera shutter wasn't being pressed, they were very busy idols. But during the interview, in order to drag what the hyungs were saying, they were acting like self-controlled jokers who were trying to get on the same level as them. Particularly after the hyungs (who said that they lost their original intentions), were awarded 1st place for their harshness, the reappearance of Mir's crying image allowed us to understand why their company didn't aggressively make MBLAQ appear in entertainment programs when they first debuted. And while Mir made a very small laugh, Thunder started to listen attentively to the other member's words. When it was his turn to say something, he said everything that he wanted while speaking in a drawl.
Unlike the two maknaes, Lee Joon was a an unpredictable joker. Unlike the maknaes, he was the most reserved during the picture shooting. The way he acted was complete when he either did things differently from what the photographer said or when he showed a little part of his body. In entertainment, it was unexpected when he started to talk about 'President Rain' and his exposure [about his secret]. Then, he started to believe that he had a "introverted and gloomy personality." But, when he was asked a question, he would thrust out his upper body and start to answer with a resounding voice. If Mir knows that he makes people happy through his personality, Lee Joon's personality is an unpredictable yet exciting character.
During the interview, if Lee Joon and the two maknaes are the strikers who are hitting the ball, Seungho and G.O. are like the midfielders who are tuning into the problem. Not too long ago, although they were humiliated when Shin Junghwan said, "Can't you change MBLAQ's leader?", if you watch the picture shootings or interviews more intently, Seungho's existence is positively uncovered.
In the interview, the explanation about the title song, the way they practice, and the answers to general team questions all came out from Seungho's lips. While his dongsaengs were in the middle of responding, their eyes would meet, and while giving a nod, he gave a feeling of relief through silence. On the other hand, G.O. gives a sense of stability to MBLAQ like a mother would. A few moments before the actual picture shoot, G.O. and a few representatives were consulting during the promotional photo album meeting, and he delivered the message to the other members. Even during the interview, he either added more information once Seungho finished answering, or he connected his ideas carefully without ending one question with one answer. G.O. Also had the role of taking responsibility when delivering a burst of surprise in the middle of the member's responses.
So, even while the individual personalities of MBLAQ stands out in their song 'Y', their charm is together as one team. From the strong personality hyungs to the bouncy maknaes, there is harmony between the members. Just like the two hyungs who look at the whole picture (Seungho and G.O.) said, "Our characters never overlap." Also, they were tied up into one by 'that person', Rain. They have the 'instincts of success' due to the fact that Rain passed it down to them. Even though Mir is out of order when it comes to entertainment programs, he knows what the goal of the programs are when Rain says, "Know what's needed for each activity [in these programs]". G.O. says, "If I succeed, I can let loose and do things I want to do," and he knows his course for the future. Just like in the entertainment programs, although they are funny, they are idols who share the path to where they need to go and who earnestly are thinking about the future. Even if it was just one interview, MBLAQ's future looked bright.
