Telecinema7
Some of Korea's biggest stars came together in 2009 for the Korea-Japan Telecinema7 project, a series of seven feature-length mini-dramas released to great anticipation in both countries. Featuring a dream team of talent both behind and in front of the camera, the seven movies paired up top Korean drama directors with Japanese drama screenwriters for unique collaboration opportunities. Some of the big stars lined up for the Telecinema7 project included Ahn Jae Wook, Cha In Pyo, Ji Jin Hee, Kim Ha Neul, Kang Ji Hwan, Kang Hye Jung, Ye Ji Won, and Shin Sung Woo. The most attention though went to the two movies starring Big Bang's T.O.P and Seung Ri and Dong Bang Shin Ki's Hero Jae Joong. The Telecinema7 DVD Box comes with all seven films in the series, as well as making of, cast and crew interviews, and a booklet.
Postman to Heaven
TVXQ's Jae Joong makes his acting debut opposite Brilliant Legacy's Han Hyo Ju in the aching romantic fantasy Postman to Heaven. Directed by Lee Hyung Min (I'm Sorry, I Love You) and written by Kitagawa Eriko (Long Vacation), the film revolves around a postman who delivers letters from the world of the living to loved ones in heaven. During his journeys, he meets a young lovelorn woman who can't forget her late boyfriend.
Triangle
Ahn Jae Wook, Lee Soo Kyung, and Kang Hye Jung form a suspenseful Triangle in this caper directed by Ji Young Soo (Oh! Pil Seung, Bong Soon Young) and written by Ozaki Masaya (Love Generation). Ahn plays a charming con man trying to swindle a valuable painting from a rich widow, but a mysterious woman with motives of her own discovers his plan.
A Dream Comes True
From I Am Happy director Jang Yong Woo and Anego and Call Center no Koibito screenwriter Nakazono Miho, A Dream Comes True stars Cha In Pyo and Kim Hyo Jin as an indebted comedian and a club dancer trying to deliver a young boy to his mother.
The Relation of Face, Mind and Love
Directed by Lee Jang Soo (Stairway to Heaven) and written by Oishi Shizuka (First Love), romantic comedy The Relation of Face, Mind and Love starring Kang Ji Hwan and Lee Ji Ah is about a shallow architect who gets beautiful and ugly women mixed up after a sight-impairing injury!
After the Banquet
Starring Shin Sung Woo, Ye Ji Won, Ko Ah Sung, and Bae Soo Bin, After the Banquet from My Lovely Sam-Soon director Kim Yoon Chul and Gokusen writer Yokota Rie revolves a group of old college friends who find some surprises awaiting when they meet again at a wedding.
Paradise
Directed by Lee Jang Soo (Stairway to Heaven) and written by Okada Yoshikazu (Bambino!), melodrama Paradise stars Kim Ha Neul and Ji Jin Hee as a former convict and an elementary school teacher who meet on an island called Paradise.
19 - Nineteen
T.O.P, Seung Ri, and Heo Yi Jae play a trio of 19-year-old murder suspects locked in a cat-and-mouse game with the police in the youth drama 19, directed by Jang Yong Woo and written by Inoue Yumiko (White Tower).The two Big Bang members also sang the film's theme song.
