Adam Couple's 1st Anniversary, WGM PD said, "They really look like a real married couple."
The Adam Couple from MBC's "We Got Married" (produced by Jung Yoon-Jeong), Jo Kwon and Gain, finally reached their first anniversary in their make-believe marriage. The broadcast on the 23rd showed a special trip to celebrate the couple's first anniversary.
Among all the casts in "We Got Married", which started on 16th March 2008 as a segment in "Sunday Sunday Night" and then moved to "We Got Married Season 2" on 15th August 2009, Jo Kwon and Gain are a special couple. They are also the first couple who reached the much-expected first anniversary.
The members from season one: Andy-Solbi, Crown J-Seo InYoung, Alex-Sinae, Jung HyunDon-Saori couples, followed by Kim HyunJoong-Hwangbo, Son Dambi-Marco, Hwanhee-Hwayeobi, Lee HwiJae-Jo Yeojung, Jung HyunDon-Taeyeon, Kangin-Lee YoonJi, Junjin-Lee SiYeong, Shin SeongRok-Kim SinYeong, Kim YongJoon-Hwang JungEum, Park JaeJung-UEE couples have graced WGM. But there's no other couple like Jo Kwon and Gain who stayed this long, who became a constant hot topic and received lots of love. All viewers as well as the production team have high opinion on them.
Jung Yoon-Jeong PD said, "Sometimes they do seem like a real married couple." And then complimented, "They are the type of people who create their own stories. They are very active and also very honest." Jung PD then stated, "They even became a hot topic outside the program, which was never expected by the production team. They tried things that have never been done before by any casts in season 1."
Actually Jo Kwon and Gain, at the early stage after they were casted in WGM, showed their true selves without any pretense whatsoever outside the program, and even if they left one brief comment of Cyworld, Me2day, Twitter, etc. it became a hot topic. Gain's bikini picture and Jo Kwon's 'revenge' picture in his swimming shorts caused quite a stir on the internet.
This is to certify that it naturally gave a fun factor to WGM. Before Adam Couple were casted, WGM appointed real couple Kim YongJoon-Hwang JungEum, but then they have to cope with the various criticism about it being a set-up and scripted, therefore they had to hatch a plan to reformat the show. The couple who perfectly filled in the empty space left by the real couple was no other than Jo Kwon and Gain. Because of their honest and confident selves "WGM season 2" reached the peak of its success and became a popular family show.
Jung PD said, "For WGM, it is more important to let them be truly immersed in the situation (to go with the flow, I suppose, or to act naturally), rather than forcing someone to fall in love with his/her partner." Then complimented Jo Kwon and Gain by saying, "They do excellently by staying true to the show, they don't care about their image, and do not have any pretenses." And then, "They did their best in making the most of every situation."
Jung PD said that she couldn't possibly predicted the present outcome when she first paired those two up a year ago. "Naturally their personal charms are remarkable. Although we are the ones who paired them up, we can say we did a good job," she said and smiled.
The first anniversary is also a meaningful moment for Jo Kwon and Gain. At the recent recording for the first anniversary, Jo Kwon and Gain idly remarked, "Are we going to stay this way even after ten years?"
Time for a change in their life as "Adam Couple" is drawing near after the first anniversary. Recently Gain started her own promotion as a solo artist, both of them were cast as twins in MBC's sitcom "All My Love". How will they arrange the time in the future? The production team and all the devoted fans are very curious. Jo Kwon and Gain must be feeling the same way too.
