This is how Jaejoong, Yuchun, and Junsu, who overcame the past 3 months since leaving Dong Bang Shin Ki and forming JYJ, described how they’ve been doing. It seems like those 3 months had flown by.
Despite entering dispute with the former management company regarding exclusive contract problem, JYJ recently released a full album called “The Beginning,” and are eagerly waiting for new activities. In addition, they also plan to release “Music Essay” in early next month.
During a recent interview with Chosun.com, JYJ said, “We decided to go this way one year and a half ago. We made this decision, even while knowing we were in our most perfect state as DBSK. Since we had prepared ourselves with the possibility that we might not be able to sing anymore, right now, every schedule is so precious and we are thankful for each activity.”
DBSK was the best male group that dominated K-POP music industry ever since the exit of HOT. Since DBSK was as popular as it was, it’s hard for the three to forget their glorious past. JYJ said, “We are still DBSK. Even in the future, we must not disappoint our fans as DBSK. We don’t have any intention of wanting to lose our former reputation and worth as DBSK. That is why right now, as JYJ, we are making steps only after thoughtful consideration and making careful decisions. Although going from 5 members to 3 members looks like a big change, we don’t want to hear that we’re different. We’d rather hear people saying that we’ve branched out (*T/N: without cutting themselves off)).”
The lawsuit concerning the three’s exclusive contract with SM Entertainment has prevented them from appearing on broadcast shows due to the existence of an ‘external pressure’, this condition put concern on readers who are following JYJ news. However, JYJ made the conclusion: “Since we had to think and make decisions on our own, we had some hard moments. Sometimes when issues weren’t resolved easily, we would become disheartened and think, ‘Why do we have to go the hard way when we could be going the easy way?’ But, the final outcome is that we met a good management company and agency, are able to work happily, and came out with a good result.”
“What could they do?” “They’ll last maybe 3 months–the longest?” As JYJ was separately formed, there were many negative thoughts surrounding them. However, they recently released their first regular album, and successfully completed their first worldwide showcase, touring everywhere in Asia and the USA. As the truth about their argument with their Japanese management company about advancement into Japan was revealed, a commotion began to rise in the album industry.
Next year in January, JYJ will officially release their world-wide album in America. Their management company expressed their side: “Since there is a lot of interest and anticipation for JYJ in Japan, currently we’re having an active discussion about how their activities can be done. There will be official promotional activities sometime next year (*T/N: 2011).”
JYJ shared, “It’s already been 7 years since we’ve been together. Now, we can tell what our members are thinking and feeling with just one look.” They also said, “Even we are highly anticipating what we can show in the future.”
Jaejoong shared, “I hope all of the members will be healthy and not get sick. I would like it if we cherished each other, strengthened each other, and worked in this way- just as we have always done.” Junsu revealed, “Just as we have always done so, I hope we will help monitor each other and strengthen and support each other. Also, I would like it if we all do our best in individual activities and create huge hits.” Yuchun shared, “For the first time since our debut, I went on a trip with our members after finishing the concerts and I really enjoyed it. I hope we will go on trips more often in the future and plan gatherings so our families can meet.”
SM Entertainment released official news that the 2 member DBSK will be resuming activities starting from the beginning of next year. We were curious to know what JYJ thought about this news. JYJ stated, “We would like it if (the comeback) went well. At the same time, we are sad that they are coming back with the name DBSK, but we believe that this isn’t the intention of the 2 members. We hope they will show us an awesome comeback that is nothing less than the worth of the name DBSK.”

The three members of JYJ shared their personal wishes for the New Year and a New Year’s message for their fans.
JYJ’s Junsu is receiving misunderstandings that he is a Rabbit sign with a 1/1/1987 birthday because of his profile. However, he is really a Tiger sign who was born on 12/15/1986. While since next year will be the year of the rabbit sign, his name is frequently brought to attention as a celebrity with the rabbit sign. About this matter he said, “Isn’t it a good thing that I lose at least one year in my age (laughs). As much as the coming year is the year of the rabbit, I will think that it is just as great as my own year and pray for a year full of good news. I want to show a good performance in the musical ‘Tears of Heaven’ that I am currently involved in.”
Jaejoong shared, “I look forward to more freeing and lively activities as JYJ. During our upcoming world tour concert, I want to show a more awesome appearance. I wish that all fans will also attain their wishes and hopes in this new year.” Yuchun said, “Since the Music Essay, which will be released in mean time, is filled with the member’s honest stories about what happened lately in the music form, we anticipate more interest from fans.
