Ha Ji Won: Ha Ji Won's jinx? I didn't think so~ (JOY NEWS 24 INTERVIEW PART 1)
Even when she bought us tears, she still gave us more happiness and laughters in return. Rather it is chocolate or cookie, she would like anything that has a sweeten taste to it. A woman like Ha Ji Won, who fly like a soaring eagle and performed like she’s an alien. (Meaning she act very extraordinary) For the past 3 months, this “amazing” woman who bought tears and laughters to our eyes.
“Ending was criticized? I'm also curious about it~”
“Secret Garden” has ended for over a week now, but Ha Ji Won has not gotten out of the drama craze yet. Ha Ji Won, who played as a stuntwoman Gil Ra Im has said, “Looking at the high rating people have for this drama, I felt kind of dazzled, it was strange and a new thing for me.”
“During the process of filming, the only feedback we could get access to are the viewers’ ratings, we couldn’t get any feedback through another method to find out the popularity of a TV drama. I’ve always thought that ratings for TV dramas are normally at this rate, but right after we finished shooting, I re-examined the ratings again and met fans of the drama, only that did I know about the drama’s true popularity. In fact, most of the staffs and the actors/actresses didn’t know much of the craze throughout the time span they have given out to the people for those 3 months. To receive so much love and support, I felt very grateful to everyone.”
When we asked about the drama ending, Ha Ji Won laughed and replied, “I didn’t know that we were about to finish our filming, everyone including me was very curious as how the drama would end. I had once thought that this drama might have a sad ending. But luckily to everyone’s prediction, it was a happy ending. That is why I felt so happy.”
“Have I thought about the ending? Actually, I had once thought that the scene in episode 17 when Kim Ju Won bought Gil Ra Im into the storm was the ending for the drama. Before the final ending script was released, I thought that everything in the drama was part of Gil Ra Im’s dream, or it could be part of Oska’s music video. (Laughs) These kind of prediction was overheard from fellow staffs on the set. It was really interesting. At that time, it made me think that there are a lot of people who likes and cares for the drama. As well as finding so many NGs from the drama. (Laughs)”
"Ha Ji Won's endings are jinx? I don't have them~"
There are a lot of concerns surrounding the ending in “Secret Garden”, but it proved how popular the drama was. When the drama first started airing, many people already predicted that it could end up as a sad ending. Based on Ha Ji Won’s past work, many believed that “Secret Garden” will not be an exception. The drama that Ha Ji Won led in, “What Happened in Bali”, “Hwang Jin Yi” are all examples of an impossible love story inevitably led into a tragedy in the end. That is why everyone believed “Ha Ji Won’s endings are jinx.”
When Ha Ji Won heard about her influence in bringing sad endings, she laughed and replied.
“I also heard that before in the past. ‘Ha Ji Won’s endings are jinx’, ‘Those who worked with Ha Ji Won will soon receive a draft notice from the nation?’, ‘Impossible love story to become reality?’ Is it these? Perhaps because of everyone’s passion for my work, which is why they said things like these, not only it was interesting to watch. Or is it because of the pain I portrayed, giving people that emotional strain that felt like a poison in a typical love relationship that could hurt people mentally. Could it be this too? I think maybe because everyone especially liked the fact that whatever work has a sad ending is considered to be good. Simply put, there is no such thing as Ha Ji Won’s jinx~ (Laughs)”
“I have so many other work that has a realistic love ending.” Ha Ji Won replied with a big laugh. Interviewing with Ha Ji Won, a woman with unstoppable laughter, her body emits that positive healthy aura. can even laugh so happily at the smallest of things.
When we asked her about the most memorable lines to her, she answered us without hesitation. Yes, she picked one of Ju Won’s line, “Become a mermaid and stay by my side for the moment, and then disappear like a bubble.” She said when she heard Kim Ju Won said this to her, she felt very sad inside. “This line made me feels that Ju Won and Ra Im’s love are real, but they have their differences in gap and communication. Ra Im’s occupation is a stuntwoman, it is very similar to a mermaid. The mermaid has to hide herself deep under no matter what. Similarly, the stuntwoman also has to hide herself in order to shine brightly of the existence of others. This made me feel so complicated yet sad inside.”
