Yoon Eun Hye, Park Han Byul, Cha Ye Ryun and Yoo In Na attend My Black Mini Dress press conference
On the morning of February 28th, the four gorgeous ladies of My Black Mini Dress gathered for a press conference at the Apgujung CGV.
For those of you who may have been out of the loop, My Black Mini Dress is a film which stars Yoon Eun Hye, Park Han Byul, Yoo In Na, and Cha Ye Ryun as women in their mid-20s who hold deep friendships and a mutual love for the classic black mini dress.
During the press conference, Yoon Eun Hye elaborated on why the role appealed to her. Director Heo In Moo offered me the role of a normal, everyday girl who seems to be lacking 2% in everything she does. I felt that the audience would be able to connect with her, and decided to participate in the film.
She continued, I think theres a perfect time for everything, and this movie feels right for my age. Its going to be a lot of fun watching it again and reliving the memories when Im in my 30s or 40s.
When asked about her feelings on making the shift from dramas to movies for the first time, she responded, Its true that I was afraid of getting hurt. I lack a lot of things as a person, and I didnt want to jump into it unprepared.
Meanwhile, Park Han Byul will be playing the role of a successful star named Hyeji, who was first discovered while clubbing at a party. Not only does she possess perfect looks, but she also has a cool personality and a wealthy background to boot.
Considering how her character is also a celebrity, reporters asked Park if she felt any similarities between her characters personality and her own. Park Han Byul replied, My character becomes a celebrity, while I am a celebrity, so I felt a lot of connection to her when she worried over things like friendships.
She continued, Ive been acting ever since I was little, so I always felt a distance between me and my friends. My character goes through all of that, so I felt connected to her. I think those people who are in their 20s and are studying acting will feel a personal connection to her as well.
Meanwhile, Yoo In Na was asked the same question about whether she felt there were parallels between her characters life and her own. Since she plays a college student, Yoo In Na replied, When I was a college student, I was a trainee so I thought Id still be a trainee even after I debuted. I was filled with pressure and nervousness about what to do after graduating.
She continued, During my long training, I did a lot of work involving various chores. Whenever I saw my friends debut before me and receive impressive spotlights and big paychecks, I felt like there was a barrier placed between me and my reality. In the movie, my character feels a sort of bitterness when she sees Hyeji (Park Han Byul) succeed and live an impressive life.. which I think a lot of women would connect with.
I also received a special award at a smartphone film festival for a scenario I wrote. I think working with My Black Mini Dress while writing its script helped a lot. I was able to feel a variety of different feelings directors go through. When I wanted something done this way, but the actors or actresses portrayed it in a different way. The experience, as an actress, helped me realize that I just needed to pour in my concentration with everything I had.
Finally, Cha Ye Ryun will be playing the role of the wealthiest friend with a hidden pain which shes yet to share.
When asked what she thought was most important to a woman in her 20s, she replied, A man. The other three actresses chose competence and reasoned, If youre competent, wont the men be chasing after you?
Cha Ye Ryun reasoned, I think its a man. The man can just have all of the looks, competence, and wealth.
The movie will be released on March 24th.
