Plot:
The plot of the series revolves around three yōkai, Bem, Bera and Berro, who arrive at a large coastal city and come across an evil atmosphere, which was brought about by immoral behavior by humans and mischief caused by monsters and yōkai. They therefore decide to stay in the city, fighting against other monsters and yōkai which attack humans, making a few friends along the way. Even though the three yōkai are often abused by other human beings due to their appearance, they still strive in protecting the human populace of the city from other monsters, one day hoping to become human beings in return for their good actions.
Bem:
The oldest looking of the trio is the leader. He uses a walking stick as a weapon in human form.
Bera:
The only female in the group and the most bad-tempered of the trio. She uses a whip as a weapon in human form.
Berro:
The youngest looking and the most naive of the trio. He is the only one that doesn't use a weapon in human form.

Earlier today, NTV revealed that the drama fall season is going to get a live-action adaption of the popular anime series Yokai Ningen Bem, starring KAT-TUNs Kamenashi Kazuya.
Yokai Ningen Bem was a popular anime series that aired in 1968 and 1969, revolving around three yokai (demons, monsters) who fight against other yokai that attack humans. Even though they are defending the humans, its not easy for them to get along with a lot of people due to their appearances. Therefore, they are hoping to become humans in return for their good actions one day.
NTV already made it clear that, while they will adopt many elements from the original anime, they will also aim to add some new things and make it a unique drama that fits into this day and age.
The protagonist Bem will be played by Kamenashi. Actress Anne and child actor Suzuki Fuku will make the trio complete by playing Bera and Berro respectively.
Kamenashi commented, Its a very famous anime and I was surprised and honored when I received the offer. About the special make-up that will be necessary to turn him into a yokai, he ambitiously stated, It tries to convey a very important message, therefore Id like to become the character as perfect as possible.
Anne, who already has the perfect long hair to portray Berra, commented, The anime has a very dark atmosphere and retrospective world view. I hope I will be able portray her character well in reality.
Suzuki, who loves ghosts and monsters, cant wait to turn into one himself. He said, Im looking forward to what kind of costume and make-up I will be wearing. As usual, I will work very hard for this drama.
Yokai Ningen Bem will start in October and air every Saturday at 9pm.
