EPISODE 16 RECAP
Wol asks Seol who became the crown princess in her place and she is told it was Bokyung
YangMyung asks Hwon if he is prepared to give up his position as king- can you protect her in my place. If you arent willing to lose anything then how can you protect her. what is there that you can do. Hwon tells him to stop. YangMung asks if Hwon can let go of YeonWoo. Cuz I can do that. but no matter what you wont be able to do that.
Bokyung asks how wol is here.
wol: didnt you call me?
Bokyung is in denial saying there is no way that couldnt happen. Wol asks if she resembles heo yw cuz a lot of people mistake me for her but I am just shaman named wol. Bokyung tells her to leave.
Wol: can I ask one thing before I go with your permission. I received the spirit of yeonwoo from the hidden room. She told me to tell you that she wishes you happiness and to stop being afraid. Bokyung gets scared and says that girl would not say those things. She tells the aide to take wol away
Bokyung screams so wol tell the aide to go in and take care of the queen and wol will leave alone. Aide tells her not to get caught while leaving
Bokyung remembers what her dad said to her when she was young and cries. Bokyung keeps thinking that cant happen. That girl is dead for sure.
Wol walks by the hidden room. She remembers how Hwon said in his letter that it would be hard for her to start training but that she could do it well cuz its her. wol goes inside and looks around. She opens the window and Hwon is standing there looking up at her
Wol remembers how young Hwon asked if she was crying and thinking of her family if you are open the window. She opens the window again and Hwon is gone. She goes downstairs and looks around. She cant find Hwon. she looks sad and Hwon walks over. He walks over and asks why she is here. tell me you are supposed to be at the infirmary so why are you here. she says she was ordered here and lost her way on her way out. Sorry this place holds meaning for you so I will be going now. She walks off but he holds her hand. He asks how her body is. She says she is ok. He asks if its not hard living there. she says its not hard.
Hwon: if you want I can move you to another place. If you want I can send you where no one knows you. she asks why he is doing this using his powers. She thinks in her head if you do that then I wont be able to see you again. He says how she didnt do anything wrong and is being punished. She thinks in her head that she did wrong by not knowing him right away.
Hwon lets go of her hand. And tells her to go. Go and dont come back in front of me again. She cries as he walks away without looking back. She looks at him as he leaves. He cant walk straight.
Wol walks back and runs into Nokyung. wol asks what Nokyung came here. Nokyung says you didnt come to see me so I came.
Wol: there must be a reason why I didnt look for you. I havent thought things through yet so I will meet you later.
Nokyung says the king wants to meet her so she thought she should meet wol before she meet the king
Nokyung says she had no choice but to follow the dowagers order and she wanted to protect YeonWoo as a favor to her dead friend so she killed YeonWoo and saved her. wol says she cant understand one thing. Why did you deceive my father. Nokyung gives her reason so wol says you should have killed me cuz he thought he killed his daughter so he killed himself. The medicine you used to kill me you killed my father with. Nokyung is shocked cuz she didnt know about the dads death.
wol: how could you keep your mouth shut for that long time.
Nokyung says she needed a body to do that spell- someone who was a virgin. Nokyung says how someone prayed for YeonWoos death together with Nokyung. Wol asks if that person was the dowager. Nokyunh doesnt say.
Wol: Then who? Wol remembers how Seol said the princess came by that night. And how she asked about yeonwoo and went back.
Wol realizes it was MinWha and Nokyung says that it was the princess.
MinWhs is in the dark. She remembers how Yeoms mom said Yeoms dad killed himself. She keeps crying. she remembers when she first met YeonWoo. She cries more. and remembers how when she was a kid how the dowager told her to get up cuz she has been in bed for days. And how she begged the dowager to convince her dad to let her marry Yeom. dowager says the king will never allow that. and that the dowager said there is one way. MinWha asked what that is. Dowager says help this grandmother. MinWha shakes and cries remembering.
Yeom calls for Minwha so she gets up and smiles. He asked if she was sleeping. She says no. he comes in and asks if she had been crying. she says no. and asks what brings him here. he says he worried cuz she hasnt moved ever since they came back from his fathers gravesite. She hugs him and he says: Im in trouble. She asks if anything is wrong. He says he thought he liked her smiling but now he likes her crying look too. She asks him to forgive her. he asks for what. MinWha: for everything. He says he will watch over her all night. She asks if he will stay by her side all night. He tells her to sleep comfortably
Nokyung explains the role the princesss played. Wol cries. Nokyung says how the princess realized she had to cover everything up cuz nothing can be undone. Wol asks what to do.
Nokyung: choose reveal all the truth and go to the kings side or cover everything and just live.
Wol: this what you worried about for 8 yrs.
Nokyung says she will follow whatever Wol wants.
Wol goes off by herself and cries. Nokyung watches the back of wol crying.
Minister asks Yangmyung why he is doing this that YangMyung misunderstood him. Yangmyung keeps backing up from him. Hwon comes over and asks what brings Yangmyung here at the palace. yangmyung talks about the infirmary and how they are trying to save lives. Yangmyung says how much suffering there is there. Hwon says he didnt know yangmyung was so interested in that. yangmYung says he is worried about how the citizens are eating or not. Hwon says it sounds like yangmyung is saying that his citizens are suffering cuz won isnt doing his job well
Hwon meets with the ministers about the corruption at the infirmary, ministers say Hwon is speaking too harshly. Hwon gives examples of people starving. Minister says how they ran out of funds and they need to raise it. Hwon keeps yelling at them.
Hwon goes back and Nokyung is waiting. She asks if he looked for her.
Dowager hears that Nokyung went to meet with Hwon. dowager orders the aide to bring Nokyung as soon as she comes out from meeting Hwon
Hwon asks when Nokyung worked at seungsuchoeng and left. Nokyung says it was 8 yrs ago. He asks the reason why she left. She says how she needed to rest. He asks what caused that suddenly. He asks if its possible to kill someone with dark spell. She says there is no way to kill a person. She explains why it cant happen but says it in an indirect way exactly what happened (so he can piece it together later). He asks if she is lying. She says if she used a spell to kill someone she would be dead now. Since she is alive then it means its not possible
Nokyung goes outside and remembers how wol asked Nokyung not to tell the king cuz it will torment him. dowagers aide asks to see Nokyung
Dowager asks why Nokyung went to meet Hwon. Nokyung says he remembered her face and called for her. Nokyung brings up her daughter. Dowager asks if Hwon wants to keep wol by his side. Nokyung says he wanted Nokyung to keep her mouth shut about that. dowager asks if Nokyung is lying. Cuz she didnt act that way last time. Nokyung says back then she could only see saving her daughter and said those things. Nokyung says sorry and forgive me. Dowager says wol cant be near Hwon. Nokyung says in her head- what you tried to stop didnt work
Hwon walks away and thinks the dowager used Nokyung to cast a spell. He reads into Nokyungs words and how she phrased it to mean that she could have used black magic. Hwon concludes that YeonWoo could be alive
Wol is asked to feed the girl. The girl doesnt want to eat even though wol says you need energy.
Wol: are you trying to die. tell me and I will keep your secret. Why do you want to die.
girl says even if I live my parents wont be happy. Wol says how much the girls father went through to save his daughter. Girl says without her one more person in her family can eat so her parents can suffer less. Wol says I know how you feel well. I thought if I was gone that my whole family could live well if I disappear that it would be ok. But one night a daughter who was alive was gone so how can a parent live. Dont be weak and say you will die again. Girl hugs wol and cries
YangMyung comes up and hears that. he says in his head- please tell me you arent YeonWoo that you are just shaman wol.
Wol wipes her tears and asks when yangmyung came. He says just now. His aide says he brought what yangmyung wanted. Yangmyung says to him you worked hard. Wait over there for a minute.
Yangmyung brought ginger looking roots thing. Wol stares at him so he jokes are you interested in me. He says he brought her a book. She says she wanted to learn from that and asks if she can accept it. He says if she doesnt want it then use it for kindling. She takes the book. He stares at her and she looks up so he pretends to be sad to part with his stuff. Cuz if he wears that outfit everyone falls for him. There are girls clothes so he tells her to keep it. She thinks of giving it to Seol but he says no. he has some place he wants to go with her and he wants her to wear that cuz it will look good. She asks where that place is. He says his teachers place. He sees her reaction. She looked away startled (cuz its her own home)
Hwon thinks to himself if she is alive then why didnt she show up in front of me- why. Hwon remembers when he met wol the first night and how he saw the young yw in the woods holding the lantern and how she said she was waiting for him why are you just coming now. Hwon says I wanted you to be Yeonwoo. He remembers how he kept asking her if she knew him. How wol kept saying she cant give him the answer he wants. Hwon thinks she wasnt lying then so why didnt she know me.
Hong meets with Yeom and says hong has an order from the king to look into YeonWoo death secretly. Hong says how there arent that many people who know about what happened 8 yrs ago so he asks Yeom to tell him anything he knows. Yeom says how he wasnt able to protect his sister. Yeom says sorry for not being of help.
Servant walks hong out. Hong sort of strangles him and says he is going to ask a few questions.
Yeom calls out thinking its Yanmyung but its a cat. And Seol who was watching him. She says in her head that YeonWoo remembered her memories so now maybe everything could go back to how it was.
Yeoms mom is packing stuff to send to the infirmary. Yeom asks to take her this time. mom says she is going to the one where wol went. Yeom asks if its cuz that girl resembled Yeonwoo. The mom said even if that girl is not YeonWoo she will have parents how much pain would they be in if they knew what the girl went through. The mom wants to feed her and comfort her. Yeom says how the king is secretly looking into YeonWoo death
Servant says how he wasnt able to say one thing to his owners cuz it might hurt them. hong hits him for stalling so much. Servant says YeonWoo's grave was disturbed when he went there after the funeral. Servant recognizes Seol. hong asks if the guy knows Seol. Seol runs off. Servant says he isnt sure
Hwon hears that YeonWoo grave was disturbed and Yeom and his mom doesnt know that. and how some girl kept showing up and she was there that day too. How she was a servant from a long time ago. But hong knows that servant to be with shaman wol. Hwon orders HS to go to seungsucheong right now
Hwon walks there and thinks to himself of all the clues he has and says now all there is left is to confirm
Hwon goes to see Nokyung.
Bokyung is scared and in the corner. Her mom goes to her. Bokyung screams and her mom asks why Bokyung is like this. What did you see for you to be like this. Bokyung says mother that girl heo yw is alive. Her mom says that girl died 8 yrs ago. Bokyung says it was that girl she is close to the king again. She is going to chase me out for sure mother. Her mom says be strong. Her mom says Bokyung is mistaken. Bokyung screams out she isnt seeing things. I know everything that my father killed that girl. Her mom tells Bkyung to keep her mouth shut. Even if he did Bokyung needs to trust her father. Yoon comes in and Bokyung screams at him.
Yoon is alone in the room. He keeps thinking he saw wol somewhere before. How the king met YeonWoo. So yoon thinks Heo YeonWoo is alive. How did that happen.
Hwon tells Nokyung not to lie from here on. he threatens her. he asks if wol is her shaman daughrer. She says yes since 8 yrs ago. he asks if she met that YeonWoo cant remember. She says becoming a shaman you lose memory as if you are dead and came back alive. He asks if that means it was due to the shock. He asks if that shaman has her memory or still doesnt know who she is. Is that shaman;s name wol? Hwon cries and says answer me. If shaman wol heo yeonwoo who died 8 yrs ago? Nokyung closes her eyes. Hwon is in shock and staggers a bit. He walks out sort of unsteady on his feet
Hwon walks with only HS and woon following. Hwon remembers all the mean things he said to wol. He falls to his knees and cries holding his heart. HS kneels and cries too. Hwon remembers how he told wol not to show up in front of him and not get close to him. He hits his chest and yells when he remembers asking Nokyung if that shaman is heo yeonwoo who died 8 yrs ago.
