This isn’t because he’s appearing in shows or dramas, but because he’s appearing in practically every other commercial out there. After starring in MBC’s The Sun and the Moon, Kim Soo Hyun signed 17 modeling contracts, becoming one of the top players in the industry. The number even sets a Korean record, breaking that previously set by the ‘Figure Queen’ Kim Yuna.

Kim Soo Hyun was most recently chosen as the new face of the fabric softener brand Pigeon, becoming the first exclusive male model in a market that usually signs actresses such as Kim Hye Soo or Soo Ae.
This is only the newest addition; he’s already modeling for laptops (Samsung Electronics), outdoor clothing brands (Cheil Industries), suits (Ziozia), cosmetics (LG Household & Health Care), sports clothing brands (Prospecs), ice cream (Natuur), jelly (CJ), drinks (Korea Yakult Corporation), coffee (Lotte Angel-in-us) and beer (Cass), not to mention the mobile (SK Telecom), camera (Canon) and pizza (Domino Pizza) commercials he had already been signed with before.
The number of Kim Soo Hyun’s contracts became 17 with the addition of Pigeon. This is a new record that far surpasses Kim Yuna’s set in 2009, with 15.
He’s set the record; what follows now is the profits. Some in the industry are even saying that Kim Soo Hyun has earned 6 billion won through commercials. The earnings were calculated from the average payments received by A-class celebrities, 300 million-350 million won, so many believe that he’s probably even signed for more than that.
A source close to Kim Soo Hyun said, “This was made possible thanks to his fans’ love. We won’t be too proud, and we’ll repay them with more activities.”
