Jo Kwon talks about being a JYP trainee for 8 years on Go Show + dances to Be My Baby Cr: allkpop
2AMs Jo Kwon opened up about the difficult days he spent as a trainee.
On the June 15th broadcast of SBS Go Show, Jo Kwon earned the praise of the audience after displaying his kkab appeal by dancing to Wonder Girls Be My Baby, and more.
It was here that MC Go Hyun Jung remarked, There is a new term now called the Jo-Kwon Effect, and it was coined by a biotechnology professor from Ehwa Womens University who wrote about it in a column.
The column stated, When it comes to analyzing the Hallyu phenomenon, sociologists like to credit the success to what they call the Jo Kwon Effect. Jo Kwon is one of the key figures in Hallyu- a successful driving force, having overcome 2,567 days as a trainee.
Im so touched, Im going to tear, Jo Kwon said. I did read about it once in an article.
A lot of people tell me to stop talking about my trainee days, and that theyre tired of hearing it. he continued. But I spend my entire adolescence as a trainee, so I dont have much else to talk about. I had no idea it would take this long, and I kept wondering why I wasnt being cut.
Though it wasnt easy, the long 8 years gave him the gift of endurance and patience. In my fourth year of being a trainee, the 2PM members Nichkhun, Taecyeon, and more came in. Thats when I began to feel really pressured.
J.Y. Park never once yelled at me, nor did he ever compliment me. Both my skills and my appearance were rather average, he continued.
Upon hearing his story, the emcees expressed their surprise saying, Both Jo Kwon who never asked, and J.Y. Park who simply watched from a distance without saying a word for 8 years are both something.
