Kim Eun Sook, screenwriter for the SBS drama A Gentlemans Dignity, has been slipping in little references to her favorite writers, actors and pieces here and there, leading another fun hunt for detail to take place outside the story of the drama.
First and foremost, Kim Do Jin, the name of Jang Dong Guns role in the drama, is actor Won Bins real name. Won Bin is known as another actor Kim Eun Sook wants to work with aside from Jang Dong Gun and So Ji Sub.
Kim Eun Hee (Park Joo Mi), the four gentlemens first love, had her name taken from the screenwriter of the drama Ghost, who is Kim Eun Sooks best friend. She even sneaked in an appearance by Go So Young, Jang Dong Guns real-life wife, through the page of a newspaper that was flashed briefly on screen.
Some scenes also touched on Kim Eun Sooks previous piece, Secret Garden.
In the episode that featured CN Blues Jung Yong Hwa as a cameo, Jang Dong Gun was caught muttering, Whats Hyun Bin up to? Is my Bin doing well in the military?
The school Seo Yi Su (Kim Ha Neul) teaches at also stands out. The name of the high school, Ju Won high school, seems to come from the name of Hyun Bins role in Secret Garden, Kim Ju Won.
Netizens reacted to the little finds with comments such as, Is that school from a foundation that Ju Wons company found?, Writer Kim remembers Hyun Bin and Im happy to at least be reminded of him this way.
