ADAM: You mean you don’t want to know that McGarrett’s recently MIA galpal Catherine shamelessly flirts with a federal agent to get details on Mama McGarrett? OK, fine: I also hear that Ed Asner’s art collector/smuggler August March will be back this season. McGarrett will call on him when a band of armed thieves knock over a years-old art gallery and make off with a couple of priceless paintings. However, the simple heist eventually gives way to a kidnapping, a hostage situation and a deadly shootout.

Look Who’s Returning to Hawaii Five-0!
Steve McGarrett’s happy family reunion is expanding. With his presumed dead mother Doris returning in Hawaii Five-0′s season premiere (with Chicago Hope vet Christine Lahti in the role), sister Mary Ann won’t be far behind.
In an episode slated to air later this fall, actress Taryn Manning will return to the islands as Steve’s kid sis to see for her own eyes that mama McG is in fact among the living. I’m hearing that both Steve and Mary Ann will have lots of questions for their mother, who faked her own death 20 years earlier.
Manning was originally announced as a series regular when the series premiered in 2010, but for story reasons the character was sent back to the mainland. She did, however, reprise the role in one Season 2 episode.
Might there be more McGarrett children out there? That remains to be seen. Lahti tells me she’s not quite sure what Doris was up to during her missing years. And online speculators continue to guess that Steve’s nemesis Wo-Fat may turn out to be Steve’s half-brother. Wouldn’t that be a twist?

“Hawaii Five-0” will pick up right where it left off when it returns for its third season with Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) realizing that the Sophie’s choice he was given to either save his wife Malia (Reiko Aylesworth) or his cousin Kono (Grace Park) wasn’t really a choice at all. We left him waiting for the ambulance as Malia is bleeding out on the floor of their home, and Kono has been dumped into the Pacific ocean with her arms and legs tied.
“Somebody definitely dies. There will be blood,” executive producer Peter Lenkov told xfinityTV of the Season 3 premiere in a one-on-one interview at the CBS TCA party Sunday evening. “We wrap up the Kono storyline; we wrap up Malia, and then we get into this really big episode.”
Part of the really big episode is the addition of Christine Lahti to the cast in the role of the mother of McGarrett (Alex O’Laughlin). In his search for “Shelburne,” McGarrett finally convinced Joe White (Terry O’Quinn) to take him to the source — and what he found at the end of the trail was the mother he thought was dead.
“She has a lot of explaining to do,” Lenkov adds. “Twenty years abandoning her family, which she considers making a sacrifice to protect them, feeling like she had to do that… She has a story about why she disappeared; I am not sure McGarrett believes her. That is going to be interesting to flesh out.”
But that isn’t all McGarrett will have to contend with. After years trying to get Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos) into prison, which finally happened in the finale, Lenkov hints that the international super-criminal may figure a way out of his predicament.
“I will give you scoop,” Lenkov says. “He will be back in the first episode.”
