Who Will Win The 'Award for Best Animal Actors' In The 'Horse Doctor'?
Part of the reason for the Horse Doctors enduring popularity and acclaim is the depth provided by excellent supporting actors and some of them are not even human.
With Baek Kwang-hyun (Jo Seung-woo)s role as the horse doctor, or the Joseon-era veterinarian, supporting actors of horses, cows, dogs, sheeps, rabbits, and an ostrich has made their appearance in the drama. With the horse-acting of the horse, with eyes full of tears, and the foot-acting of the cat, as if testing the temperature of the water, has added to the depth of the drama with their delicate acting skills.
Then, who is the most appreciated actor of them all? The viewers have rated the horses acting skill the most among them. Named Yeong-dal by the young Kwang-hyun on the 5th episode, his realistic tears, after being stabbed by the crony of Lee Myung-hwan for causing a ruckus, and his pained struggle to get up has won the accolade for its realism and emotionally-charged depiction of pain.
The horse has also completely immersed itself in the role of a horse afflicted with a disease. Briefly struggling from pain when Kwang-hyun performed acupuncture, the horse closed its eyes when Kwang-hyun took the needles out of it, before drifting to sleep peacefully, blinking its eyes sl:-).
The cat of princess Sukhwi (Kim So-eun) is the prime contender for the horse. Dal-yi, princess Sukhwis pet cat, won appreciations from the viewers with a realistic depiction of drinking and checking the waters temperature. Delicately touching the water to check the temperature of the water, after putting up a struggle to not drink it, the cats delicate attention to details has won the moniker the prime example of animal acting.
The fighting dog on the 6th episode, the sheep on 8th, and the monkey on 10th has also won acclaims. The fighting dog, dripping with blood after being bitten on the neck, wowed the viewers with its depiction of an exhaustion, having not a strength to lift a paw. The dying mother sheep charged the audiences with sadness after it gave the baby its last milk before dying. The monkey, talking to Baek Kwang-hyun, provided a burst of laughter to the show after seemingly ignoring him, and promptly snatching an apple away from him after he turned his back to it.
