หลายคนจะสับสนกว่าซุนวูพูดหรือเขียน เท่าที่เคยอ่านซุนวูทั้งภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษ ไม่มีครับ (และในสามก๊กก็ไม่มีการเขียนเอาไว้) แต่เรื่องความคิดแบบนี้ คือทำความเข้าใจศัตรู หรือทำให้ศัตรูตายใจนั้น เรียกว่าเป็นคำโบราณของหลายๆที่อยู่แล้วครับ
สาเหตุของความสับสนนั้น มีคนสันนิษฐานว่าน่าจะเพราะซุนวูเขาพูดถึงการทำความเข้าใจศัตรูไว้ แต่พูดแบบนี้ "Know your enemy and know yourself and you will always be victorious". อีกอย่าง ซุนวูนั้นดังกว่า Machiavelli มากครับ โดยเฉพาะในไทย

And while "Micheal Coreleone" did say that in the movie, it was attributed to being told to him by his father Vito. But more than that, the actual origin of the quote was from Machiavelli in "The Prince" which is the definitive primer for how to be a dictator...
