[121126] Interview with Yunho: Tohoshinki Yunho enthusiastically acted in Musical Gwanghwamun Sonata

The highly popular K-POP star Yunho of Tohoshinki made an appearance for Korean blockbuster Musical Gwanghwamun Sonata on November 20 and 21. The musical kicked off on November 10 and is now running at Osaka Shin-Kabuki Theatre.
The hall was packed to capacity to see him on these 2 days. Once Yunho appeared on the stage, the entire hall was filled with excitement, and the audience was intoxicated with the songs and dance performance of Yunho, who enthusiastically performed his role, creating a completely different atmosphere from when he is on a concert stage. In the middle of the musical, when Sang-hoon, the composer Yunho played, said good-bye to the woman he loves, the sound of sobbing was heard from here and there. The audience seemed to be entranced with the heart-breaking love story.
At the encore, the whole audience stood up all together. When Yunho called out to them in Japanese Everyone, sing together!, the whole audience sang Kono Sekai wo ikite mireba (When you live in this world) and Akai Yuyake (Red Sunset) along with the actors, giving enthusiastic applause.
After finishing his appearance for Musical Gwanghwamun Sonata, Yunho answered the following questions in an interview.
Q: Why did you choose Gwanghwamun Sonata from a lot of musicals?
YH: This story is lyrical and moving. Most of all, I was fascinated with the music of the late Lee Younghoon, which takes me on a journey of dim memories.
Q: What was difficult when you practiced playing the role of young Sang-hoon?
YH: He expresses his inner struggle through music. I wondered how I could express such artistic sensibility.
Q: What did you get through this musical?
YH: I learned more mature and meaningful LOVE through the way Sang-hoon loves the woman by acting as and merging with him.
Q: If you were Sang-hoon, could you let your crush go to another guy, or would you get her to stay with you?
YH: If I have confidence that it is true love, I will (do everything to) make her happy by my side.
Q: Which scene or song do you like the most in the musical?
YH: I love all the scenes and all the songs. The entire Gwanghwamun Sonata is like a single being, so I dont consider each scene or song separately.
Q: How do you think of the reaction of Osaka audience who saw the musical?
YH: We acted in a language which is not the native language of the audience. Im really grateful towards them that they concentrated on our performance and cheered for us in spite of the language barrier.
Q: What were the things that you wanted to convey to the audience through this musical?
YH: My acting is still somewhat lacking, but I wanted to express the true love of Sang-hoon in a different way (from others).
