เรื่อง Ugly American ค่ะ In 1962, Universal Pictures approached two American writers, William J. Lederer and Eugene Burdick, to buy the copyright to the best-selling book Ugly American, a satire on American policy and its dealings with other countries.
Ugly American, directed by George Englun, was filmed in Thailand in 1962. The now legendary actor, Marlon Brando, starred as an American ambassador to a fictional Asian country named Sarakhan. His arrival stirred up pro-communist activities, leading to havoc and chaos, despite his intention of goodwill to create a good relationship between Thailand and the United States. Mom Rajawong Kukrit Pramoj played the part of Sarakhan's Prime Minister.
The film was shot in two locations in Thailand; Mahanak junction in Bangkok was used in a scene where an anti-government mob had gathered and Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Arts was used in another, disguised as the parliament building.
