That's a rumor about Lupin....Actually, I think several characters will play some major roles in the book 7. Anyway...Why did I say Aberforth? Because...He's been very strange and mystery.
-He attended Dumbledore's funeral but just stood there in the crowd. Didn't even try to see his brother closely.
-He backed off when Harry caught him trading stuff with Mundungus.
-He used to be a member of the order of the phoenix. Now, he's out for some reason.
-He did unappropriate charms to goat. That's all we know about him.
So, I suspect him being one of the Death Eaters or working for Voldemort. That gotta be a reason as well. Just a thought.
