A Brief Introduction to Riguangyan
There is an old saying that
"One hasn't been to Xiamen until he or she has climbed Riguangyan".
Riguangyan is the major scenic area of Gulangyu, consisting of the Peak of Riguangyan and Qinyuan Garden.
The Gigantic stone thrusing up from the peak of Riguangyan is looked on as the symbol of Xiamen City. Zheng Chengong, the national hero, once stationed his troops here when he recaptured Taiwan. In this area, there are gigantic stones, cliffs, and lush green forests with many places of interest.
Among them the most famous are "Yipianwa Temple", "Lujiang Dragon Cave", "Ancient Summber Grotto", "Longtou Mountain Stronghold", "Marine Command Platform", and the "100 Meter Platform".
Standing on the Peak of Riguangyan, one has a bird's-eye view of Xiamen, Gulangyu, Dadan and Xiaodan.
The Qinyuan Garden is linked to the Peak by cable car. Recently, the Aviary, the Audio/Video Hall", and the Hall of Heroes have been built, adding to the natural beauty of Riguangyan.
The Riguangyan Tourist Area is the first one in China with ISO140011 certification.
Environment and Development is its eternal theme.
