Aerides quinquevulnera
Country: Philippines and New Guinea
Synonym/s: A. quinquevulnerum
Aerides quinquevulnera Aerides quinquevulnerum is prized for its long, densely flowered racemes of showy flowers. Rare species with a spicy cinnamon fragrance.
The densely flowered spike has many waxy flowers on a spike to 30 cm or more, burgundy red spotted darker red. The lip is spurred, flowers about 2 cm across. Best grown in a warm shady spot, the plants do best in a basket in a chunky open media with lots of water and fertiliser when in active growth.Similar shade requirements to that of dendrobium, with perhaps a little more shade in summer.
