SKY IN BLOOM MOBILE
Materials:(choose color according to your own decor)
1 1/2 Yards each- Yellow, Purple Green & Bright Pink 1 1/2" Single Face Satin Ribbon
1 Yard Each - Green & Purple Rat Tail Cord
1 1/2 Yard - Pink Rat Tail Cord
1 Pkg. - Emerald Green Passementerie Tubular Bias
2 Wire Hangers
8 Wooden Clothes Pins
Craft Paint in bright colors, Paint brush
Tackey glue
Glue gun and Glue
Common pins with plastic heads.
Instructions:
Butterfly Bodies:
Paint each clothes pin with bright colored craft paint.
Bend pins to form butterfly antennas. Insert 2 antennas into head of each clothes pin (See photo)
Butterfly wings:
Cut each length of ribbon into 2- 11 inch pieces (for top wings) and 2 - 9 inch pieces (for bottom wings)
Overlap ends of ribbon 1/2 inch and glue to form ring. Repeat for all ribbon until you have 8 large and 8 small rings.
Fold one large ribbon ring in half with seam in center to form 2 loops.
Insert ribbon loops into clothes pin as far as possible so that ribbon gathers in pins. (See photo)
Repeat step 3 for small ring, Matching color. (See photo)
Insert small loops into clothes pin under first set. (See photo)
Paint butterfly wing, body, and head with craft paint.(See photo) Set aside to dry.
Repeat steps 3 thru 7 for remaining ribbon colors.
Cut rat tail into 7 - 18" lengths
. Tie knots at one end of each length of rat tail. Trim.
. Hot glue knotted rat tail to each butterfly, (center of clothes pin). to create hangers.
Mobile Assembly:
Cut hangers using illustation1. as your guide
Bend hanger parts using illustration 2. as your guide
Feed tubular bias onto each piece of wire. Gather tubular bias until you have achieved desired fullness. (Cover ends of wire with adhesive tape to help slide tube onto wire).
Tie 7 Butterflies to mobile arms with rat tail cord. Glue the last butterfly to mobile hanger. (See photo)
