Tubby Dolly Crochet Pattern Legs Ch 11 Row 2: In 2nd ch from hk, 2 sc in each st. And in every st across. (20 stitches) Ch 2. turn. Row 3: Sc in every st across (20 st) Ch 2 turn. Repeat Row 3 - 13 times. Fasten off. Work second leg the same way but do not fasten off.
BODY AND HEAD With right side facing sc across the 20sts, and continue across the next 20 (next leg). (total 40 sts). Ch 2 . Turn. Sc in every st across (40 sts). Ch 2. Turn. Repeat 14 times.
SHAPE UPPER BODY Newt Row: Sc in first sc and the next 6. Decrease 4 times, Sc in the next 10 sts, Decrease 4 times, Sc in the next 7 sts. Ch 2, turn. (32sts) Sc 9 more rows, always ch 2 & turn. Always end up with 32 sts. Next Row: Sc in 1st st, 2 sc next sc **(sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) Repeat from ** across. Sc in last sc. (48 sts). Ch 2, turn. Next 11 rows: Sc in each st across, ch 2 turn at end of each row. Marking middle of 11th row.
SHAPE HEAD 1st row: Sc in first 11 sts. Decrease twice, Sc next 18, Decrease twice, Sc in last 11 (44sts) Ch2. Turn. 2 - 4 rows: Sc without shaping (44sts). Always ch 2 and turn. 5th Row: Sc in frist 10 sts, Decrease twice, Sc next 16 , Decrease twice, Sc in last 10 sts. (40sts) Ch 2 turn. 6th & every Alternating Row Sc across. Ch. 2. Turn. 7th Row: Sc in first 9sts.Decrease twice, Sc next 14, Decrease twice Sc in last 9 sts. (36sts)/ Ch2. Turn. 9th Row: Sc in first 8 sts, Decrease twice, Sc next 12, Decrease twice, Sc in last 8 sts. (32 sts). Ch 2. Turn. Row 11: Sc in first 2 sts, Decrease to the end of the row. (24sts). Ch2. Turn. Row 13: Sc in first st, Decrease to the end of the row. (16sts). Ch 2 Turn. Row 15: Sc in first Decrease to the end of the row.(8sts). Ch2. Turn. Fasten off but leave long tail to weave through stitches. Pull to gather. Fasten off.
TO MAKE UP BODY With inside out join row ends from top of the head to just below the neck shaping. Joint row ends of each leg from the bottom up towards the body. Turn right side out. Stuff head and lags, then as you sew up the opening in the back stuff the body as you go.
ARMS (Make two alike) Ch 17. In 2nd ch from hk sc. Sc across row. (16 sts). Ch 1. Turn. Repeat to make 14 rows. (always end up with 16 sts) Rows 15 and 16: Decrease in first st of each row, sc across the rest of the row. Ch1. Turn. Rows 17 - 19 Sc across. Ch 1. Turn. Row 20: Decrease across entire row. Fasten off but leave long tail to weave through stitches. Pull to gather. Fasten Off.
TO MAKE UP ARMS With the inside out join row ends from the bottom where you gathered, leaving top open. Turn and stuff. Join to main body in the place of your choice. **Note: When I made this, I closed up the end and used doll joints so that the arms would move. But you have to remember to insert the appropriate pieces where they go before you close up the body and arms
FACE Use pink or beige (which ever is required for that tubby) Ch 13. Sc in 2nd ch from hk. Ch 1 . Turn. 2nd Row: Decrease once,Sc across until the last two sts, 2 sc in 2nd last st, 1 sc in last st. Ch 1. Turn. Sc 11 more rows. Always ch 1 and turn. Next row: Skip two sc and sc in third st.Sc in each st across. Ch 1 Turn. Next row: Skip 2, sc in third st. Sc across. Ch 1. Turn. Repeat 2 more times Fasten off Stitch the face in place on the tubby.
EARS Ch 29. Row 1 & 2 : Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Row 3 : Slipstitch in the first 7 sts, Sc in next 14, Slip st in last 7 sts. Ch 1. Turn Row 4 & 5: Sc across Ch 1. Turn. Change to same colour as face. Row 6 - 8 : Sc across. Ch 1. Turn. Row 9 : Sc 1 decrease 1 to end of tow. (19sts). Ch 1. Turn. Row 10: Sc across. Ch1. Turn. Row 11: Decrease to last st, in last st sc 1. Ch1 . Turn. Row 12: Sc across Row 13: Decrease to end. Ch 1. Turn. Row 14: Sc across. Fasten off but leave long tail to weave through stitches. Pull to gather. Fasten off.
TO MAKE UP AND POSITION EARS Sew up the end you gathered. This will give you a slight cone shape. With right side facing out push point of come in until the edge is defined by the Sc row on the right side. Position the eats in place of the head and tack the center to the head. Then sew the Ch edge to the head.. This gives the impression of the ear having an inside and an outside
TV SCREEN For this you can either use a piece of felt sewn into place or you can work a piece in gray yarn. Ch 11. Sc in 2nd ch from hk. Ch 1. Turn. Repeat until you have 10 rows. Fasten off. Sew into place
HEADPIECES
PO Ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hk. Ch1 Turn. (7 sts) Repeat until you have 42 rows. Fasten off Sew up row ends and one end, turn right side out and stuff. Position and sew open end to headTurn other end down to make a pllp, attaching this end about six rows from the top of the Head. PO is now complete!!
LAA LAA Ch 8 Sc in 2nd ch from hk. Ch 1. Turn. (7sts) Repeat until you have 42 rows. Fasten off. Sew up row ends and one end, turn right side out and stuff. Position and sew open end to head. Curl in the middle and sew in place. LAA LAA is now complete!!!!
DIPSY Ch8. Sc in 2 ch from hk. Ch 1., Turn. (7sts). Repeat until you have 2o rows. Fasten off. Sew up row ends and one end, turn right side out and stuff. Position and sew open end to head. DIPSY is now complete!!!!!
TINKY WINKY Ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hk. Ch 1. Turn. (7sts). Repeat until you have 42 rows. Fasten off. Sew up row ends and one end, turn right side out and stuff. Position and sew open and to head. Shape length into a triangle leaving about 4 rows straight up from head. Sew this end onto this positionSew a stitch into the angles of the triangle to keep them in shape. TINKY WINKY is now complete!!!
